In all communities, it is the work of the 'out' gay men and lesbian women to lead the way. They must stand up and confront homophobia in their community leaders, their entertainers, their families. Nobody can do this for us anywhere. This is why coming together in groups and demonstrating our presence and determination to have full human rights is absolutely essential. Communities of color are often dominated by specific institutions, like churches, and icons. This is where GLBT people in those communities need to focus their work.

Its nice to see that the powers that be are slowly pulling there heads out of there asses and realizing that labeling black LGBT or MSM is only making us more and more weary in coming to terms with our sexuality.

Yes there is the fact of personal responsiblity, but the negative images the media portrays of us is killing my "ethnic" lil bro's and sissy's.

It would be nice if whatever few black gay figures we have made themselves more visible. The young black LGBT are more likely to follow by example but we really don't have examples if any at all. Were are our hero's at?
