I realized then that unlike my friends, I had daily feelings of growth. When I talked to my parents, they encouraged me to put a brick on my head to avoid my tallness and the embarrassment it would bring to my family.During my teenage years and early 20's I considered amputation at the knee so I could be short like everyone else. My family was willing to pay for the operation. At the age of 33 I met the most wonderful tall woman ever and we have decided that together we will tower over people like willows wherever we go. In October of 2008 we had a lovely ceremony by the sea in which we exchanged platform shoes, just before the November mandate to remain short.
