Police raid Rainbow Lounge on Stonewall anniversary
The arrested and injured patrons of the Rainbow Lounge in Fort Worth speak out about the controversial raid carried out on the same day as the Stonewall riots anniversary. Police have suspended further raids with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and lawmakers are calling for an outside investigation. Carol Cavazos reports from Fort Worth.

Huh!!!, I haven’t seen or heard about anything like this since I started going to, “the Bars” in the early sixty’s. I remember the days when this was a weekly event, that is until Christopher Street Riots in 68. It really stopped on a regular basis after the press put it on the front page and embarrassed the Chief and Mayor of every City and Town in the Country. Good Luck my friends!!!
You have got to be kidding me, this is still going on!!!
First, I find it offensive that this website would play clips of “Bruno” when the movie’s original ending included a gay bashing. We all know that’s freaking hilarious! And yet, this clip was playing before the police raid on the Rainbow Lounge. This shows serious poor taste and a great lapse of judgment.
Regardless of what anyone wants to say, this raid was intentional and the police and TABC came with the sole purpose of bullying the patrons and letting everyone know that they were in charge. This was not a “by chance” incident. There was no tolerance shown. If someone is drunk and being a public nuisance then I agree, they do need to be dealt with properly. This was not proper and completely uncalled for at the time. Think about it. How many police and TABC agents do you need to for an inspection? How many do you need for an intentional raid?
I’m mainly confused. They arrest people for public intoxication but in a bar, where people go to drink. Can someone clear this up for me.
Well technically the bar is still legally considered public intoxication i guess. But nobody ever goes into bars to arrest people, its kind of an unwritten rule and it makes the policeman responsible look like a huge asshole. Stonewall is what stopped the popo from going into gay bars and arresting people for public intoxication and the like.
I could be totally wrong, though.
They totally did the raid in hate. Any other reason why?
Its about time the LGBT community stands together strongly and utilizes there purchasing power and stand by the boycotting of any purchase and or contribution to anti Gay companies or organization regardless if we want something that the company produces. Once we have the unity and commitmentfrom our own community then we can truly make progress! seems most of people my age 20ish somewhat care and thats it and most of the LGBT community have short term memories and forget easily will it take every day events like this to get an actual uprising! ?
WHAT ARE THE NAMES OF THESE “POLICE OFFICERS”?….ARE THEIR LAST NAMES OBAMA?…IS IT NOT TRUE THAT OBAMA IS A SNEAKY LITTLE LIAR TOO?
Scott,
Just two things.
First, are you aware using all caps in a posting is considered very rude?
Second, what has Mr. Obama have to do with this at all? Just curious.
i believe that the raid was a disgrace to the human race this was very intentional and a hateful thing to do ! what is there excuse for this misuse of power !!!
