The real change I’ll look for is a repeal of DOMA nothing else concerns me. This is the big one and it is the one that means something. There are laws on the books to punish crimes…and you can serve in the military (in the closet) but without DOMA’s repeal the others mean nothing. He will not do it and you can mark my words……he’ll allow us to fight and die….he’ll allow us to adopt straight people’s throw away babies and he’ll allow us to work for his administration. But he will never consider us equal. Even his solution of civil unions is a slap in the face. We can be equal as long as we aren’t equal. If this had been the solution to the problem then why was it not the solution for inter=racial marriage? Why didn’t they get civil unions, Barack’s parents could have had that. And I’m sure that there would have been no stigma and that he would have grown up to be President of the United States……yeah right. As it is he is the President of the United Straights, and I’ll never live to see equality will Ms.Garry funnels millions of LGBT dollars to the Democratic party so that she gets her jollies….

Circa 1940: I don’t feel it would be a good idea to revoke the “segregation of negroes” policy. If you are a Black person, you can still serve, but just don’t force your presence on other. Frankly, it is something that no one else wants to share with you, so why is it SO important? The truth is, there are negroes in the military. I am honored that they serve their country, for I too know that feeling of servitude to our great nation.
As far as concerning christians, the bible clearly talks about slavery and segregation in both the New and the Old testaments, and other books (sic). It was written, for God, in the Bible: “Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.” (1 Peter 2:18)
It was also addressed in Ephesians 6: “With a cheerful heart a slave shall obey his master.”
So you see, slavery had the full approval of God Almighty because, after all, the Bible is the literal word of God.
The bible isn’t something you can pick and choose what is relative to your life and fits you. It is a guidline to how to live our lives. If it offends you, maybe you need to make some changes, by the bible’s standards, (and) no one elses.

I don’t feel it would be a good idea to revoke the don’t ask don’t tell policy. If you are gay, you can still serve, but just not share that. Frankly, it is something that no one else wants to share with you, so why is it SO important? The truth is, there are homosexuals in the military. I am honored that they serve their country, for I too know that feeling of servitude to our great nation. As far as concerning christians, the bible clearly talks about homosexuality in Romans, and other books. It was paul who addressed those topics to the romans at the time. The bible isn’t something you can pick and choose what is relative to your life and fits you. It is a guidline to how to live our lives. Sometimes I think that Jeremy Wright was right. There was slavery and segregation, thanks to christians, especially people like Warrens southern baptist forbears. There was hatred against the Jews, thanks to the monstrosity of Rome, which imprisons the thinking of well over a billion people in many ways, with it’s absolutist msg, perhaps the mentality that gave voice to many of history’s worst tyrants, hitler, stalin, etc. etc.
The history of America in so many ways is just plain terrible, and that includes the last 8 years. No wonder Wright said what he did say. Hopefully Pr. Obama will take many concrete actions to end the terrible history of religious hatred against gay people. Another of the great shames of America.

I remain hopeful but skeptical. Bill Clinton promised us a lot too. For our support, we got DADT and DOMA. MAYBE a democratic house and senate will make the difference. It’s far from a sure thing.
