Gay History Month: Deirdre McCloskey
Deirdre McCloskey is a distinguished professor of economics, history, english and communications at the the University of Illinois at Chicago. She earned the position in 2000.
She has written fourteen books and over three hundred articles on economic theory, economic history, philosophy, rhetoric, feminism, ethics, and law.
Until 1995, her name was “Donald.”
At 53, Deirdre transitioned from male to female.
One of her books, Crossing: A Memoir, is an account of her switch in gender.
