I guess until the day happens that our destiny is not subject to a vote, the struggle will go on. But when that day happens, ohhh won’t it be a happy day..:)
Gays have equality already. No one is saying gays can’t get married. Gays have the same exact rights as straight people. What gays want to do is not achieve the institution of marriage but change it. Marriage is and always was between one man and one woman. I have nothing against gay people. Most gays I know are really nice people. I just don’t think marriage should be changed.

Here are a few names for you. Abraham, Isaac, Solomon. Now, how many wives did they have? So, right there is proof that marriage has not ALWAYS been between one man and one woman.
Second, romantic marriage as a societal standard only came about during the Victorian Era. Before that arranged marriages were the norm.
Third, divorce used to be illegal. Now, more than 50 percent of your “holy matrimony’s” end up on the scrap heap. So much for “’til death us do part.”
These are just a few of the changes in marriage. If you insist I’ll come up with more.
Mickey you’re logic is flawed. It’s unfortunate that the government used the same word, ie marriage, to describe a legal union between two people as the church used to describe a religious union but they are completely different. The legal marriage is recognition by state and the secular benefits that recognition affords. The religious marriage is recognition by church. Gays aren’t changing anything, just demanding the same benefits and treatment as the hetero population. Do you know what the same treatment is? It’s having the right to marry the consenting adult whom you love. Gays DO NOT have that right. Now pull your logical brain out of your religious butt and do something humble (you’re probably a fundamentalist so you may have to look that word up). Humble yourself and realize your BELIEF is just that, a belief and not a truth. You cannot force your bigoted BELIEF (as in not a truth) on those who don’t agree with your narrow and prejudiced interpretation of biblical canon. You cannot outlaw things you don’t agree with!! Especially when they affect no one and nothing negatively. No one is saying you can’t disagree or even hate gays but you certainly should not write your bias into law. That completely flies in the face of the spirit and purpose of the United States. Gay-marriage opponents are not true Christians or Americans. Land of the free remember? Civil rights are not up for peer review. I’ll give an example… I’m not trying legislate away your right to be ignorant. See we all win, just keep your false religion out of my life.

Does everyone notice that it’s always the God loving “Christians” who use the slurs and hate speak the most. I don’t envy them when they stand before their God and say they hated His other children in His name. We don’t believe it and since you can’t control others based on your religious beliefs in the United States, you’re the wrong ones. If you follow the bible so completely, why aren’t you outlawing divorce? It’s against God’s law you know. But then again so is eating pork, doing ANYTHING on the sabbath, wearing cloth made of 2 different materials. Oh all those things are punishable by death by the way. Did your mom wear a cotton/polyester blend today? Shouldn’t you be killing her? Did your daughter do laundry on Saturday? Then go pick up the stones and get to pelting her until she dies. After his 1990’s episode with paying, fixing traffic violations and even hiring his gay prostitute — apparently running a male prostitution service out of Frank’s apartment with Frank’s ok — Frank just serves to alienate people against the gay community by reinforcing the stereotype that all gay people are freaks. It’s not like Barney Frank is supposed to be our gay messiah or something. He’s a politician and he happens to be gay. It’s not like he ran for office on a platform swearing equality for all. While I’m sure he would love to share his government pension with a significant other some day, he probably has more pressing matters to focus on at this very moment.
Things like the skyrocketing unemployment rates and the millions of Americans projected to lose their homes in the next 2 years.
None of the other minority groups gained 100% equality overnight, and there are a lot more African Americans and women than there are GLBTs. So why should we expect things to suddenly change overnight? Obama doesn’t get to snap his fingers and instantly repeal DOMA and DADT. At least they already have a basic timeline. At least Obama is appointing out gay members of society to high office. He even seems to be attempting to get a dialogue going between the religious crazies and the GLBT communities. At least the Supreme Court is actually CONSIDERING allowing gay marriage. None of this would or could have happened 20 years ago. I call that progress, and it gives me hope for the future.

You need to get past your butt-sex fixation and pay attention to the things that matter. If you want to protect the sanctity of marriage, then ban DIVORCE. Divorce is an abomination in the bible too…Go ahead, pick and choose which part of ‘Gods’ word you want to believe.
