Video/ 365gay News: Randall Pinkston reports on AIDS crisis
It is a silent epidemic terrorizing part of south. HIV/AIDS is spreading at alarming rates and it’s hitting two separate communities at surprisingly different rates.
Randall Pinkston has the story.

The graphics at 0:30 do not match the narration. The narrator says that African Americans make up 22% of NC’s population and 68% of NC’s reported AIDS cases. But the graphic shows 68% of the NC African American population have AIDS. That’s absurd, and is not what the narrator said. The same mistake is made for Whites, a few seconds later. If you’re going to do a graphic, it might be a good idea to get it right. The correct pie charts would be (1) a pie chart showing the 22-74 ratio of African American to White in NC, and (2) a pie chart showing the 68-22 ration of reported African American to White AIDS cases in NC.
This is an very important story, and I’m glad it’s being covered.
A couple small complaints, though: It seems like the report spent a lot of valuable image time showing blood being drawn, over and over again. Also, isn’t the reporter’s name spelled Pinkston, not Pinston?
