"Cancel my subscription - to a NEWSpaper - because I saw something I didn't like"? Wow, how very childish.

Then again, with only twenty-seven people doing this, we're dealing with the real rock-bottom fraction here. The same kind of people who would probably cancel over a photo of a synagogue with a Star of David (out of fear it would cause their kids to question their Christian religion).

Kudos to the ombudsman for not caving in to these few squeaky wheels.

In any crowd, there are always a few people whose alimentary canals are reversed.

Congratulations to the post. I've seen some hetero pigs kissing that made me wonder.

And as a str8 long term married guy, I'm thrilled to see these guys kissing on the front page.

Petenick,

How do you know the color of those who complained about the intimate mouth to mouth kiss? Bigots and Christians come in all colors, White, Black, Asian, Latino, etc. I live in the area served by the Washington Post delivery routes and those routes are very diverse in there racial makeup in some areas like mine. Just my street has on it Vietnamese, Latinos, Chinese, blacks, Africans, whites, people from India, etc. All kinds of people could be making those comments. Petenick,
you have absolutely no clue of the religion or lack of religion or the color of the commentors. My neighbor is a conservative white Reagan who does not go to church. We have white Jewish people in some of the neighborhoods near me. How do you know that some of your so-called "white trash" with a name like Charles E. Smith (name of a local Jewish school in my area) isn't Jewish?
After all George Burns (An Irish name O Broin in Gaelic)was born Nussbaum and was Jewish. Names don't always accurately show the origin of the person behind the name.
Some people from India have Western names from the days of the British and the Portuguese and yet they look very Indian. How do you know that since many people from India or Indian ethnic origin live in an DC suburban area served by the Washington Post that one of them with a Western sounding name didn't write some comment?

In this very diverse society in the DC area also served by the Washington Post any of the above could have applied. How do I know these things? Because I live in the DC area and I have read a variety of things over the years and my friends are not all white, not all gay and not all Christian.

One of my best friends is a cultural but non-religious Jew in love with her Jewish cuisine and cultural heritage. Another friend is a white gay male naturist into Zen Buddhism. Another dear friend is a very Westernized pro-gay straight Christian African woman from Ghana. She goes by an name that is totally Western even though she can speak both English and an African language. Another is a gay guy of Italian heritage who is atheist but broad-minded enough to attend a church service when with away from home with friends who do go to church.
Another very dear friend is an ethnic Chinese guy from the Philippines with a Spanish name. His first name Daniel common to both Spanish and English-speaking people.

How do you know that an Philippino with a name common to both English and Spanish (since the Philippines were kept and/or influenced by both Spain and the US) didn't also write a comment?

All these sorts of diverse people in the area served by Washington Post delivery, could have made those comments.

So, Petenick, you have absolutely no clue the color of who might have sent those comments in. No clue either of their national original, whether or not they have faith or if so what faith. Bigots and "trash" come in all types and colors.

I am white, gay and Christian. So people these days in the year 2010 of the 21st century defy your tendency to stereotype. Simply because they come in all varieties and all combinations.

Not that too many people will see it this way, but I think this minor dust storm is helpful to our cause. It exposes the gross intolerance our opponents have for us...they literally want us out of sight and unmentioned..."erased." (*shiver*) :-(

Hopefully, a number of people will see how sick their intolerance is...it's so sick that it's *making* *them* sick...literally.

Two men, kissing? Yawn. What happened to tea bagging?

A kiss on cheek doesn't arouse quite the level of nausea for some people that intimate mouth to mouth kissing does.

Mouth to mouth kissing is intimate bedroom behavior. A kiss on the cheek is not bedroom behavior and OK anywhere.

Petenick says it best!

The fact that people feel this image is bad for children is why our fight is so hard. We are fighting religious superstitious bigots that actually believe there is something wrong with us because they read in an ancient book written by ignorant nomadic tribes that a fairy in the sky doesn't want this behavior to happen. Not important that they misinterpret it to come to that conclusion, people that are led to believe things that way are not rational.

Sad thing is this is the way average voters make decisions. From ads and from speeches from the pulpit. No wonder we have such ineffectual ideologs trying to run our country.

Outlaw churches, or at least tax them to death, and ban political advertising. Two simply things that could literally save this country. On our present course I give us 30 years. We will be bankrupt before then (I guess we are now but since we can still service the debt we plod along. Not too long and we will not be able to make the interest payments, much less support all the lazy people).

It is over, unless we see symptons like these complaints for what they are: emergency beacons.
