The Daily Show interviewed Pastor Scott Lively, the president of Defend the Family about Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.
Lively explained that gays and lesbians shouldn’t be allowed to serve in the military because they are particularly vicious. He referenced the “fact” that the Nazis used gay troops because they were particularly “savage.”
“The Nazis were not only gay, the Nazis met in a gay bar,” said Lively.Watch as the Daily Show’s Jason Jones discusses the “exceptionally brutal and savage” homosexuals with Lively, and then with former Lieutenant Dan Choi.

Keeping track of all of these savages is hard work for Lively, who said, “I would have loved to just been hanging out on the beach some place but instead I got stuck with dealing with homosexual Nazis.”
Scott Lively seems to be attempting to establish a truism such as “there is an idiot born every minute”.
Yes, didn’t you know that they tried to kill enemies by singing cabaret songs in Berlin while in drag? naturlich, nicht!
Pastor Scott Lively says nothing about the attempts of the Nazis to exterminate thousands of gays and about gays being tortured with piano wire around their necks etc to force them to reveal names of other gays they know. About gays perishing in the concentration camps. My belief was that the Nazis were out to exterminate gays,along with Gypsies, Jews, Slavs etc and wipe out their culture and their communities. If gays weren’t reproducing more of the “desired “Aryan” race, how would they fit into the Nazi’s program of German domination of Europe? Of what use could they possibly be to Hitler?
Loved the part where Lively waffles on about the Nazi’s supposed homophobia being an intentionally planned subterfuge to hide their pro-gay stance, and then Jones turns it on him with a “like you” moment.
How sad that a “Spoof” from the Daily Show makes more sense than any official policy statement or position from our Military, or the Administration….I did like the little rainbow Swastikas in the eyes of Jason Jones, right at the end, before he ran out of the room…it was cute and made the point nicely…..
I’m currious about him saying that he was stuck with this assignment. It sounds like something he maybe doesn’t really believe himself, but is required to promote anyway. He sounds like a pawn, feeding disinformation and being setup to take the fall when it is all proves to be lies.
Where do these nut cases come up with these fairy tales? Are their personal lives so uninteresting and unhappy that all they can do is try to ruin the lives of those of us who are very happy and supportive of those around us? Lord God in heaven (If you really exist) PLEASE – give them something to be happy about so that they can stop trying to ruin our happiness. Thank you.
The problem I have with Scott Lively and others spreading these kinds of statements is that people who are not informed on the truth believe this kind of deliberate dishonesty. Lively and his associates know they are causing harm, but they also know that their lies are winning people to their side. They take the attitude that the end (causing harm to LGBT people) justifies the means. The real truth is that Gay men and Lesbians were arrested by the Nazis, subjected to extreme tortures and killed in the concentration camps.
Lively and others would do well to read Exodus 20:16.
And since people believe his lies and use them to justify acts of violence against LGBT people he also needs to read Exodus 20:15.
I love The Daily Show, and this was hysterical! Do these people understand how ludicrous they sound? While it can true that people who protest the loudest often have something to hide, I doubt that all the LGBT people who were persecuted by the Nazis would absolutely believe that the whole Holocaust was the doing of gays. Not to mention entirely insulting idea that gay solders are more savage that straight ones. (Which, by the way, contradicts the whole idea of the limp wristed, sissy stereotype often foisted on gay men.) Just another way to suggest that LGBT people are less than human. Scott Lively, you and all those like you are despicable.

with white supremacist groups for years.
I don’t know where Lively gets his information but he is dead wrong. In fact, the Nazis exterminated a rival homosexual police organization, the S.A. so that Hitler’s personal bodyguard, the S.S., could take over. Yes, there were rumors that Adolph did it to cover up his long association with the S.A.’s openly gay leader, but that is besides the point. By the time Germany invaded Czechoslovakia almost all openly gay men in the Fatherland were wearing pink triangles in concentration camps. Having corresponded with Lively briefly on the Net, I can only say the guy is an idiot with a pathological (probably self-directed) homophobia.
I have a difficult time swallowing most of the interviews done on The Daily Show as legitimate. They’re amusing, yes, and some of them seem to be serious interviews, but why would a republican wingnut willingly go on a show renowned for unabashedly bashing hard right viewpoints, and basically making a mockery of them?

Nonsense. Ernst Rohm and a few other SA men were homos but it weas NOT a homosexual organisation. It was a right-wing militia composed of remnants of the WW1 German nationalists that grew from youth organisations and men’s gyms and other places where ‘real men’ hung out.
Is it official yet? Can we now ignore the DADT detractors, because their own absurdity is actually helping our cause?! (George Will thinks so.)
