Another Monday and ten more random thoughts.

1. I would say something about Sarah Palin and her drama but I’m scared of being sued. So let me say that Alaska never had a better governor, her speech on Friday was not the rambling, disjointed, cluster freak show as described by media elites, and she resigned because she is a good point guard.

2. Carrot cake is starting to beat my love for cherry pie.

3. How can you not love this country after listening to Marvin Gaye’s rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner”?

4. What’s the deal with Marion Barry?

5. Is there anyone out there going to the Michael Jackson memorial service tomorrow?

6. My future husband Beau Breedlove is now saying Portland Mayor Sam Adams kissed him twice when he was 17, a contradiction of what Adams has said. Beau. Beau. Beau. Give me a call if you want to talk baby. Like I said before, if we had a relationship I wouldn’t lie about it!

7. Chad Gibson is conscious now and saying Fort Worth police authorities are spinning tall tales about what happened at the Rainbow Lounge.

8. Surprised the coup in Honduras isn’t getting more news play.

9. Roger Federer proved this weekend why he is the king.

10. If only bacon could do what coffee does.

Thinking about Jackson through the dead.

Mocking Michael Jackson in my mother’s house followed a routine. You could go on and wonder about his butchered face and some of his other eccentricities. She would patiently listen and even smile at a good joke at the gloved one’s expense. But when she said the following line, all teasing had to end.

“Say what you want, but you can’t take away his talent.”

I imagine her in tears this week. She never met Jackson, didn’t attend any concerts, but kept her heart open for the kid from Gary, Indiana. Hard not to really. She saw him grow up. Adored the boy leading his older brothers and required silence whenever they were on television. Took me to see The Wiz and only talked about his performance as the Scarecrow and Lena Horne as Glinda (Happy birthday Ms. Horne). When Thriller made him the King of Pop, she went along for the ride and showed a mother’s pride every time Jackson moon walked.

If she were still alive I would be on the dutiful search for mementos. She would be good enough to note any complaints about my errand boy status, but would be gently insistent about what was to be purchased. Of course his records would be getting played all the time–she left this world proud of her Fisher stereo system. Not sure if this is more me than her, but I think she would wonder why Papa Jackson keeps talking when cameras are around.

Talking about the newly dead through the dead is an unseemly trick. I have my Jackson moments (loved his afro in Destiny), but they are neither visceral nor personal. His death only makes sense through the imagined prism of my mother’s reaction, but like Karl Marx quipped in the under appreciated novel the Oxherding Tale “truth is someone.”

A special plea to my Republican friends: listen it’s your party and you can elect whomever you care to, but if a GOP state representatives wants to issue a proclamation blaming the ills of the economy on gays and lesbians, it’s time to show the crazies the door.

The filmmakers behind "Bruno" have decided to delete a scene involving La Toya Jackson following her brother's death.

(Los Angeles) The filmmakers behind “Bruno” have decided to delete a scene involving La Toya Jackson following her brother’s death.

Universal Pictures, which is releasing the comedy, said the decision came “out of respect for the Jackson family.”

The moment was first cut out of the movie’s Los Angeles premiere Thursday night, which took place just hours after the Michael Jackson’s death at age 50.

“Bruno,” starring British comic Sacha Baron Cohen as a flamboyantly gay Austrian fashion correspondent, is set to come out July 10 and is the follow-up to his 2006 smash “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.” La Toya Jackson had been featured in an absurd interview with Bruno in which she sits on a Mexican man’s back and eats sushi off a second, naked Mexican man.

The moment is classic Baron Cohen, the kind in which he places some unsuspecting person in a weirdly deadpan situation and waits for the humiliation – and the humor – to follow. He also tries to interview Paula Abdul in this setting but she quickly feels uncomfortable and leaves. (The joke’s on the audience, too, because we don’t know which scenes are real and spontaneous and which feature players who are in on the gag.)

Jackson arrives at a contemporary L.A. home under the guise of being interviewed by Bruno, a character Baron Cohen introduced alongside Borat on his sketch comedy program “Da Ali G Show.” Because there’s no furniture in the house, Bruno asks Jackson to sit on the back of a Mexican laborer, who’s on his hands and knees functioning as a chair. Another man serves as a table with pieces of sushi spread across his naked body.

Jackson hangs out awhile and politely banters with Bruno, who asks whether she will introduce him to her brother, Michael. She tries to deflect his persistent requests but relents when he asks to see her cell phone – then he finds what is supposedly Michael Jackson’s number and reads it to his assistant in German.

Just days after his feud with the Black Eyed Peas, Perez Hilton has found himself on the defensive again, this time for a posting on his Web site about Michael Jackson.

(New York) Just days after his feud with the Black Eyed Peas, Perez Hilton has found himself on the defensive again, this time for a posting on his Web site about Michael Jackson.

After the first reports about Jackson’s failing health, Hilton wrote that he doubted Jackson had gone into cardiac arrest. In a post that has since been removed from PerezHilton.com, the celebrity blogger speculated that Jackson was pulling a stunt to get out of his upcoming concerts in London.

Hilton’s skepticism, of course, proved unfounded – and many have called for a boycott of the blogger. Hundreds of users on Twitter have urged others to “unfollow” Hilton on the microblogging service. Pete Wentz of the band Fall Out Boy was among the celebrities who chastised Hilton.

Hilton (real name: Mario Lavandeira) didn’t return e-mails requesting comment.

He did, though, tweet many times about the situation, claiming that he was owning up to his mistake and that he was “genuinely feeling sorry that he died and sorry for his kids.”

On Thursday, Hilton apologized for using a gay slur during a nightclub altercation Monday with Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am. The altercation resulted in the band’s tour manager being charged with assault for allegedly punching Hilton.

Hilton apologized after the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation pressed him to apologize.
