WNYC radio announced the Associated Press is calling New York City for Bloomberg.

Only Bill Thompson’’s mom thought this election would be this close. And who doesn’t love it? Well Bloomberg partisans for one! And let’s give a hand to Gay City News! They could have followed the big three dailies and gave its support to the Bloomberg, but the editors looked at the record and thought Thompson would be better for LGBT New Yorkers. Thompson may lose this thing, but it’s great to see New Yorkers not falling for the inevitable candidate.

MSNBC and NBC called NYC for Michael Bloomberg. But just now, the folk on the radio station WNYC said they have retracted that. The New York Times is still saying Bloomberg has won his third term. Maine is getting tighter and tighter.

I’m TV free, so I don’t have the pleasure of watching talking heads breathlessly make predictions for 2012 based on the results tonight. What are the talking heads saying? Are they even dealing with Maine and Washington? Must say the only talking head I trust now is Nate Silver at 538. He’s left of center but an honest shooter. We need more like him.

Well that was quick. Virginia has a new Republican governor, Robert McDonnell. Not that shocking. Since 1977 the party that controlled the White House lost the governor’s seat in VA.

Just got back from voting. Went to my table to sign in and bantered with the woman about my last name.

“Like the singer Bill, right,” she asked.

“Yes! Thank you. Not many people get thst.”

She then gave a few bars of “Lovely Day.”

I proposed marriage but she was too busy taking care of other votes.

Drop by tonight. Leave comments. I’ll do my best to inform and entertain. New Jersey polls about to close. Virgina polls have closed. I understand turnout in Maine was high. No news about Washington yet.

More information about Senators Byrd and Kennedy. Byrd got emotional after Kennedy’s luncheon seizure and thought it would be best leave (he and Kennedy are best of friends). Kennedy had a seizure but is apparently talking and will be released from the hopsital tomorrow.

NBC News is reporting Senator Robert Bryd suffered a “health emergency” during the luncheon that was held the inauguration. No details as of yet. NPR just reported that Senator Ted Kennedy was taken away from the luncheon due to health issues.
