"She is a threat to many in that she has made it and made it by herself."

No, Trace. She is a threat to many because she would take away many rights from many people, for example: women, gays, the disabled. She has demonstrated her wilingness to do this (the right to reproductive health choice, the right to be treated equally under the law, and withdrawing funding for the Special Olympics).

She is a threat to many because she wants abstinence only taught (despite the fact that neither she nor her daughter were abstinent before marriage - which shows not only her hypocrisy but also the ineffectiveness of the policy in reducing unwanted pregnancies).

She is a threat to many because she wants creationism (i.e. religious mythology, of one particular brand of religion) which demonstraes her lack of thinking, her fear of actual science and that she very much wishes to promote the teachings of one brand of religion (i.e. so much for freedom of religion in America).

She is a threat to many, specifically those who love freedom of thought and expression, because she wants to ban certain books and has demonstrated that desire.

She is a threat to many (i.e. most Americans) because of her utter lack of international experience (she got her first passport just last year and, sorry, but being able to see Russia from your front porch doesn't qualify) and a similar lack of experience with diplomacy, which she demonstrably abhors (watch either of the [only] 2 media interviews she has 'granted' for proof upon proof).

I could go on (and on and on, so numerous are the examples of Mrs. Palin's lack of credentials AND reasons why she is a threat to many and the reasons we should fear her), but as for your praise for the fact that she "made it by herself", so do most bullies (see Troopergate).

I can't believe some of you people would stoop to name calling one another (and calling others names) just because someone disagrees with you. If as a gay community we want acceptance even by those who don't agree with us, then how do you expect to accomplish that when you can't even tolerate each other's opinions in our own community? If you can't debate the issues without all this vitriol, then all you will do is push people away. Neither side in this campaign is clearly, openly for gay equality. Both sides have been so ambiguous in their speeking about what they would do in office, that I strongly encourage everyone to read their websites for their policies and make up your own mind without all this childish name-calling.

Why is someone an idiot because they don't have the same political opinion as you? This has never made sense to me. Yes I get passionate about things but to say Palin is an idiot because of her beliefs is like saying bisexuals are horrible disease spreaders, no?
I am a registered democrat, but my party has turned their backs on me.
Now what?
Shall I just give my right to vote back?
Or place it where my own personal political leanings lie?
Obama? He shares the same political thoughts as me on some points and I think he's a complete and utter idiot.
I find him to be a closet gay.
Where was he during Chicago Pride?
Getting his hair did.
GAY!

Just like Bill and Hillary the Dems now so it is with Sarah and Todd the GOpers.

President Clinton who was elected had Hillary (who was not elected to public herself) acting as if she were by pushing a health care system etc and trying to get it into law.

Todd is also a spouse who is acting as if he were elected when Alsskans only elected his wife to be gov of that state.

He sits in with his wife on her meetings as gov and he pushes for the Alaska state capital to be moved from Juneau to Anchorage... things that are his wife's perogatives as elected Governor not his as mere spouse not elected by Alaskan citizenry to anything. He gets to be her spouse and caregiver of their children nothing more.

Should Sarah Palin become our VP which I hope she does not, then her husband Todd not content to stay in the background same as with Hillary when her husband was president, will like be the same with his wife Sarah as VP. Noone one voted for Todd, but he will be inserting himself into the White House and US governmnent not as husband raising the family which is all he is entitled to but as unelected "US "official" unable and unwilling to stick to mindind his own busineess and that of his family but grossly interfering with the affair of state same as did Hillary when Hill was President.

We elect ONLY ONE PRESIDENT AND ONE VP OR ONE GOVERNOR AND ONE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR FOR ANY PARTICULAR US STATE AT A TIME... NOT "TWO" OF EACH AT A TIME!!

I am a gay man who doesn't hate women, but I honestly have to say that Palin scares me. If McCain is elected President, there is a real chance that Palin could Take the office before the first four years are over. That really scares me. Not only do I not feel she is the best person for the job, but I doubt she is the best person for her current job in Alaska. She is another shoot first, ask questions later type of person who plays on the rights views to get into public office. These type of canidates are going to set the county, let alone the LGBT movement back another ten years.

Just in case it's not clear to everyone here, Sarah Palin is not the first female to run as a vice-presidential candidate on a major party ticket. That would be Geraldine Ferraro, who was selected as the running mate to Walter Mondale in 1984.

Trace,

Once more you show how uneducated and blind a Republican sheep can be. Our economy is in the crapper because of the self-serving, evil and opportunistic Bush administration. They, their Lobbyists, and their Wall Street puppets all insist on more deregulation of the financial business to rake cold over the citizens of this once great country. They are trying to get $700 billion in corporate welfare before they loose office, and probably for a very, very long time.

The Democrats at least want to limit the compensation for the greedy Republican executives who created this mess. They want to get a stake in the businesses they assist so we might be able to sell it back later and make back some of these exorbitant corporate welfare payments.

The Bush war-mongers have spent this country into bankruptcy in less than 8 years. Now they want to hurry a solution that may be worse than what has already happened, and get it done before an election they will probably loose big-time. And the middle class, that might have some dollars in an IRA or 401K savings plan, are now at risk of loosing their hard earned money. If it is gone, it will be gone for good this time. The newly-poor people will look to the government for a meager SS retirement. Their dreams are about to be shot into the cold of a financial outer space, never to return.

And to top it off, you want to place two incompetent a$$holes in the White House and Senate. McCain and Paulson both said less than a week ago that the US economy was sound, and now they are prophesying financial doom. They are obviously clueless about business. They do not know if their ill-conceived plan will work, any more than they know their butts from a hole in the ground. I may not be a bright business analyst, but I saw it coming months (if not years) ago.

And still you tout that they are the messianic leadership we need. I can say without any smidgeon of a doubt, the McCain/Palin ticket is bad for us -- they have shown they are bad for business and only the rich might profit from their election, and that seems doubtful right about now.

I lived thorough the saving and loan debacle of the 1980's and early 1990's. At least then there were assets to sell. I can say for sure, this is the direst financial situation of my life. It scares the hell out of me, and it should do the same to you and the rest of the citizens of this one-great nation. I think the Republicans may have brought us to our knees permanently, and not for a blow job, but a really bad hurtful F'ing! :(

And last, they will do everything in their power to limit gay rights and perhaps move us backwards a few decades if not centuries. If they are elected, you will be very sorry, and I will be glad to say “I told you so!”

On the other hand, I hope we do not see the US go bankrupt like happened to the USSR in 1989.

That Mrs. Palin might someday actually be the Presidnt of the United States of America is by far the most frightening thing I could imagine. The Constitution would devolve into the toilet paper W is using if for currently. Forget about "land o' the free", for one thing. Pursuit of hapiness? Fahgeddaboudit. "Liberty"? A joke under her reign. Scary AND depressing.

Well Trace, I don't know what a "femelist" is, but I think I can safely say most women who are self-proclaimed feminists don't hate Sarah Palin because she represents a threat to the patriarchical status quo in the government. They hate her because she would make a terrible President and supports policies which are actually against and counterproductive to the cause of women's rights.

I swear, does no one examine a candidates policy history anymore? What happened to being informed voters?
