And by outing the priests, we will put them between a rock and a hard place, so to speak.

And there are plenty of Good priests, including gay priests. This will give them impetus – their jobs at stake – to unionize in a sense and demand a change.

And it will cut further the supply of new gay priests. The priesthood has in many ways been a haven for gay people, giving them both a job, and a “family”.

But by continuing to work for the Bishops and the Pope – the place where the problem is – they are selling their soul. And I’m sorry, that doesn’t fly.

And prob when some number of priests come out, more and more catholics – many of whom are much more progressive then the church is regressive, will come to understand the injustice of the church.

Let us consider the position taken by the Roman Catholic Church. They believe the state and the church has a right to intervene in the private choices and decisions of Gay men and Lesbians to enter into a marriage relationship. Many also believe the state has a moral right and responsibility to use the “coercive power of the state” to ban behaviour which THEY believe is wrong.

This is the same church responsible for priests engaging in the sexual abuse of children and youth– and then covering up these incidents of abuse.

This is the same church responsible for emotional, cultural, physical and sexual abuse of children and youth in First Nations (Indian) residential schools operated by the church– and now many in the church hierarchy do not feel they need to pay anything toward repairing the damage done to people’s lives.

The Roman Catholic Church, many other fundamentalist religious groups, and many leaders in these churches as well as their representatives in government have engaged in lying and dishonesty to spread fear and anger against LGBT people– yet many of them also engage in sexual misconduct, often hurtful to others. Furthermore, the Roman Catholic church makes threats to deny sacraments and services to Roman Catholic legislators unless they vote in accord to church teachings– and is it not a crime to procure the vote of a legislator through threats or promises?

The time has come to out those whose behaviour is so hypocritical. Protect the innocent and protect truth.

Recent articles regarding the heinous crimes against gay youth.. beheading?? I think that is violence. Those who committed these crimes are empowered by the sermons and rhetoric of the church.

The gay youth in Houston was chased all through the neighborhood. School officials chose to ignore his concerns and warnings. They were going to “beat the gay” out of him.

That is violence. Rethink your article. Put your words into context.
