Let us talk about those consequences;Like the straight children who are rescued from abusive homes by gay couples who are happy to bring up a a child even if the child is not from the same race.Or the ones who have adopted children from addicts and delivered them a life of hell on the streets or some situation worse. Mr. Brown you really are very much like saul/paul who went about murdering in the name of his God.Then there is the issue of the hetero. experts who have so much to say to the world about what marriage is and you have never been married even with the ring that sometimes disappears and the vows taken to be broken before the reception is over. However it does sound like a very good way to make some extra cash for your little ones college fund.

Pleasant and agreeable is how people can rip away the rights of GLBTs and can get away with it. They can use pleasant and agreeable to be a handy cover under which to do their work to prevent marriage rights, kill marriage rights, kill civil unions and domestic partnership laws, etc. Once NOM etc. has achieved all that, it won’t be satisfied until every single progay law in the land is rolled back and until the US constitution itself is polluted with an antigay marriage equality amendment.

Nice review Lisa. I agree but want to add what really struck me, two things:
1. He has DEDICATED HIS LIFE to this…and they call him sane? Why not dig into why he is so haunted by gayness. Clearly a sanity issue.
2. His wife had no issue with marriage equality until he started OBSESSING about it. Think about it…a “nice man” can turn his wife into a bigot…just think what he does with strangers! She should know him better…

sounds like a joke of a marriage, a reporter that needs a new job and a sad, possibly angry, troubled man that is being allowed to turn his fear and insanity into a public soap box that as we all are suspecting, is a great shield for his own self percieved failings.

When will main stream reporters start reporting? Are we the only ones that see how crazy it is to dedicate your career to something that doesn’t affect you (well, seemingly…..) and that makes entire neighborhoods shun you? Shouldn’t the reporter have dug into why he does this when it makes him stand out as a loon to his own neighbors?

I found the part about the two lesbian couples the most puffy…why not talk to them? Why not cover their angle, why he wasn’t invited to parties?

It read like everyone agrees with him except the 4 lesbians we would rather not acknowledge. We know that is NOT the case.

As soon as someone like Brian Brown can show me how same-sex marriage is directly destroying heterosexual marriages, I might consider to pay some attention to this self-righteous group of people. Are otherwise “likeable, pleasant and thoughtful” folks who hate gays so insecure in their own marriages that they need to deflect attention from their own failings by placing those failures on same-sex marriage? We’ve clearly seen how inter-racial and inter-religious marriages have started to destroy the fabric of straight marriage in America – by having no outside effect whatsoever!

I read the Washington Post article, and this sums it up pretty well: Brian Brown is a nice man who fights to protect the traditional views of marriage without saying anything insane himself, though he never even considers the validity of the benefits gay marriage might have to society.

So basically he’s not the one personally saying crazy things, but he lets his organization do that for him.

That article did as much as possible to portray him in a positive light without having to “limit” itself to critical analysis.

“Pleasant” people like Brian Brown used to promote the K.K.K. long before civil rights. That is what our side’s adds need to say. As well as pointing to countries that already allow marriage equality, and guess what? they are not suffering dire effects.

The Washington Post profile of Brian Brown was shoddy journalism, a puff piece designed to permit bigots to delude themselves into thinking that they are really just defending tradition. NOM is simply a money laundering machine to hide the identities of Mormon and Catholic contributors to deprive people of their rights.

All I hear when people like him talk is Mrs. Lovejoy from the simpsons screaming “Won’t somebody think of the children” at every opportunity. Just like they just did when Obama wanted to encourage children to stay in school, and set goals, can you imagine that kind of indoctrination of their children?
