John - Well said, brother. You're absolutely right that we need both kinds of activists. (I do take issue with "...they're angry at the world generally..." - but I don't think you meant it the way it came off)

When you and Glenn came and had your debate at the Texas Woman's College, the vast majority of us agreed that you didn't just win the debate - you completely pummeled him. During the Q&A, I was the "Angry Queer" who started screaming into the Mic, to Stanton, "People like YOU, Glenn, are the reason homosexuals all over this country are KILLING THEMSELVES!! IT'S BECAUSE OF THE MESSAGE FROM PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND YOUR ORGANIZATION!" I was a bit surprised you replied to my e-mail after the debate, and actually told me you believe what I do with my group (queer liberaction dot org) is necessary. I appreciate that you see the need to keep our adversaries uncomfortable and not allow them to teach, comfortably, messages that will lead to gays killing themselves and being killed by the idiots who fall for Glenn's horrible, illogical message. I used to think of you the same way I think of gay Republicans. Now, I absolutely believe you are vital. You are given a voice in places I would *NEVER* be given a voice, because of the way in which you chose to fight our good fight. Thank you so much for everything you're doing, John.

Disrespectful. Judgmental. Name-calling. The tone is similar to those who fight to deny Gay and Lesbian citizens and their families equal treatment under the law.

All you have to do is provide replicable, empirical data that has been missing in your arguments since 1955. Subject yourselves to MRI polygraphs and we'll provide straight people as the control group. Then we'll address BPD and the sexual, physical, and emotional abuse from the caretaker environment. Secondly, if the liberal body of ABA is going to collude with the liberal bodies of the APA(s), make sure they understand that there is still no agreed upon scientific definition of the term, sexual orientation, nor is there a gay gene, but we're always interested in legitimate discovery.

The "good cop" is much smarter (and hotter). Though it depends on the "enemy." Some adversaries really are sensible and reachable, whereas some (like Jamaicans and gangsta types) never will be.

I totally agree with you. So many different groups, with their varying tactics and views, serve multiple purposes.

I couldn't agree with you more in fact. Thank you for expressing it and for continually voicing your "Good Cop" opinion.

Dr. Corvino,

Maybe you have missed sitting in judiciary committee hearings, open to the public. Maybe you have missed hearing City Councilman declaring that their allegiance is to their bible, and not their Constitution. Maybe you have missed seeing parents standing at the microphone, screaming that they would rather see their children and grandchildren commit suicide than turn out gay. Maybe you have missed driving past a rally of christian hate groups, hands in the air, shrieking and crying. Maybe you've missed out on having your own family abuse you, throw you out, and disavow your existence. Maybe you've missed being pinned down and threatened with rape to "turn you straight" or with murder to "send you to be judged."

These people cannot be reasoned with. They make up the base of our opposition, and they will never change.

Stonewall wasn't a candlelight vigil or a academic debate in a University hall. It was a riot. Maybe that's something else you missed.

Your "Good Cop/Bad Cop" analogy is ridiculous. Just because I am pissed and fed up with being oppressed doesn't make me bad, anymore than your sucking up to the bigots makes you good. I think this article makes you sound smug and condescending. Shame on you.
