First of all.
There are jamaicans that are openly gay in Jamaica that have not been chastized..women mostly tho&some gay guys don’t care what people think about them.Why don;t you guys boycott Muslim countries also where you can be stoned for being openly gay and showing too much skin? yet just because you bitches think that you are the only ones that produce revenue for our country you choose to boycott us and NOT include the Muslim countries.
& also Jamaica’s motto is: Out of many one people! therefore different shades,skin tones, races etc. we don;t all look alike..that would just be dumb.
its like me saying that all americans are white and crazy.no..a small percentage of us are actual rastafarians.
It makes no sense to boycott jamaica..because in case you don;t know not all people there are str8 and homophobic..there is a percentage that is actually gay.not saying that this is morally acceptable..but whilst you are boycotting jamaica..you are also boycotting those that are gay that live in the island.
anyways.just saying that even tho Red stripe said that they will not be promoting any artistes that encourage violence against gays y’ll are still boycotting them.that shows that you just wanted to boycott jamaica from a long time ago.probably some hot girl/guy that was jamaican didnt want ur ass so you just started all this hype.
Sad to say most of you americans just follow what each other say and don;t use a mind of your own.
You can;t force your principles on other people.
I am not saying that gay violence doesnt occur in Jamaica..but isnt it as rampant as the men in Muslim countries stoning the women that show even a little skin.The whole of this is being blown out of proportion.
and i am very disappointed.

Have you seen a boycott work for Cuba. a Boycott will make us poorer yes but it will certainly increase attacks on homos. and it will make us so much more resolute and self reliant full time Jamaica get a boycott like this, to wake and stop depending on others to choose there destiny WE DONT WANT YOUR GAY DOLLAR KEEP IT AND GUESS WHAT ALL THE GAY BASHERS in JAMAICA ALL SUPPORT THE BOYCOTT OF RED STRIPE BEER

That’s so weird. I’m also a black man in his 20’s that has spent a lot of time in Jamaica, but I never experienced any of what you described. Then again, I never went to the tourist areas. Never saw any reason to mingle with those people.

As for this whole boycott idea, you all go right along with it. I guess it makes the lot of you feel like big boys. Something tells me not that many “gay dollars” are going there when you look at the big picture anyway, so you keep on thinking that you are hurting Jamaica by withholding your wallets. Chances are that you aren’t, but hey if it allows you to sleep at night and feel as though you people have accomplished something, then go on ahead.

And for the record, don’t act to high and mighty as to presume that you are doing this boycott for the gay people that are in Jamaica.

I’m a young black man in my 20’s I have been to Jamaica and I hate it….. The people are very rude and unfriendly unless they think their going to get money from you… They will rob, cheat & kill you….. If anyone every goes there never leave off the resort, it is very unsafe and especially scary at night.
Also there are plenty of hateful Jamaicans right here in the states & there’s also gay ones…

The motive(s) for encouraging straight people to boycott Jamaica has to be more than social responsibility to be effective.

The simple realization that the more rigid and intolerant a place tends to be towards people and their behavior; the less fun the place tends to be.

People like to vacation in exiting, fun places where anything short of hurting other people goes!

This is why the Alabama and Mississippi Gulf Coast is not a popular US mainland vacation resort despite having some of the best weather and prices to be a very good vacation spot.

This is also why weather volatile Las Vegas and cold for most of the year New York City are popular vacation resorts.

I am sure Iran and Iraq’s Persian Gulf Beaches have wonderful year round weather to be excellent vacation spots but who in their right mind would vacation in those places?

This concept needs to be expanded to Jamaica when discouraging straight people from vacationing there.

Arguments along the lines of all the bad things that can happen to heterosexual vacationers in Jamaica (especially party animals)need to be emphasized over the social responsibility towards LGBT people for a discouragement campaign to be effective.

Most people do what is good for them regardless of the consequences towards others. Emphasizing how other vacation spots would be better for THEM than Jamaica would be the most effective boycott strategy.

Try to deny all you will the complicity of the Jesus Beaters in the persecution of gay people (including ritual murder and torture) but anyone with a lick of education knows the truth. Christianity is a murderous religion that has justified Nazism, the Inquisition, the preaching against the use of birth control through the 3rd World and the enslavement and abuse of women. You and your fellow apologists make me feel nauseated.

Even though Jamaica is said to be a homophobic place, there are still places here that does not agree with such behavior , for example, the Hedonism Hotels. You can still come and have a lovely vacation with your gay partner without being terrorised. Like everywhere else, it’s only a portion of the population that is homophobic.
