Unfortunately the damage has been done. I went out on Nov. 4th and exercised my right to vote. Sadly when I voted NO on Amendment 2, more people seemed to come out and vote yes. I wanna know if anyone can let us know what is the next step that we must take to fight this ridiculous and discriminatory amendment. If anyone knows the next political steps that need to be taken, I would really appreciate the sharing of those next steps to take action.

DOWN WITH THEOCRACY! THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IS A THEOCRACY.

If Obama does not throw us some really great and wonderful judges to help us on our way, then I am out of this country in an instant. In the "words" similar to those of Ms. Obama,

"I have never been so ashamed of my country. I have never felt so betrayed and so victimized by its people. I am heartbroken that they have chosen:
1.) hatred over love.
2.) evil over good.
3.) selfishness over charity.
4.) meanness over kindness.
5.) greed over generosity.
6.) bigotry over tolerance.
7.) ignorance over edification.
8.) power over care.
9.) racism over acceptance.
10.) theocracy over democracy.
11.) prejudice over justice.

And I shall never more help any other minority (or majority) in any way until they come to their senses and post a big broad apology to our community all over the media, in large type that even the BLIND can see.

The injustice we have been dealt is so sickening that I really never want to look upon anyone from the United States ever again.

I surely will call out those I see, calling them names that will make them ashamed, and VERY publicly ashamed. I recommend we do this to all, and say it with a big grin and smile, in a kind voice. They need to be embarrassed by their voting actions, VERY EMBARASSED! This dose of their own medicine needs to be given daily to all who need it, and that is more than a majority of the people with which we interact.

Please join me in this campaign!

http://www.advocate.com/news_detail_ektid65015.asp - 27% of Gay Voters Sided With McCain

If they voted against us on the presidential ticket, it would be interesting to know how many of them voted against us on the state propositions.

It angers me that these people want to make this a Black vs Gays thing...That prop was passed by the majority, who are white.

---

Actually, you are wrong. Exit polls show that African Americans voted in a huge majority (70% and and astounding 75% of Black women voted Yes on Prop 8), no other ethnic group voted so overwhelmingly in favor of Prop 8. And the majority of Whites actually voted NO on Prop 8. These are the facts, ignoring them won't make them go away. The Black community must be confronted and called out on their anti gay bigotry just as the Mormon Church is being critisized over thiers.

It angers me that these people want to make this a Black vs Gays thing. There are over four times as many whites in California than their are Blacks. No way did blacks pass that prop.
That prop was passed by the majority, who are white.

I am sick of people trying to take their frustrations out on Black people. It has to stop.

who will have the courage to organize a new movement - GGOOG, or get god out of government? for a country that once prided itself on separation of church and state, the amount of attention paid to religious matters is astounding. do we really care about the religious beliefs of our leaders? does this mean that an agnostic, or even worse an atheist, can never be elected to high office?
when we consider not only the 70 million wasted on ads for proposition 8, but the rest of the money spent on similar campaigns, i hold out little hope for our world.

"The only change for America that happened yesterday was that intolerance and bigotry now have a new face, but it’s the same old story. This is the last time I waste my vote on someone who doesn’t FULLY support equal rights for all citizens. I’m through settling. I’m through compromising. I’ve had enough."

Exactly. Congrats MLK, your people are now the same as the white man - pressing other people who are different than them. I wish he was alive today.

To Relieved of All Obligations...you are a poet. I feel exactly as you do. I might add one more.

Today, I am no longer going to pay federal income taxes. I am obviously not a citizen since I can't marry the one I love, can't serve in the armed forces, can be easily fired from my job in 30 states because of who I am with out any legal recourse, and be bashed to death because of who I am without my basher being subject to a hate crimes enhancement. So, I will not pay taxes today. Maybe tomorrow, we will see.

Wayne,

Thanks for your article, this topic it is not being covered in main stream media in much detail or depth.

When all is said and done Mormon's and Evangelical Christians have dumped over $250 Million into all these EVIL anti human ballot measures through out the nation. This $250 Million could have went very far in many really desperately needed directions, one such as covering the many patients in the AIDS Drug Assistance Programs. ADAP has been tragically underfunded the last 8 years.

We are NOT better off as a nation with this monstrous waste of money on these types of ballot measures. Americans need to press for answers how do these groups even have $250 Million to spend so foolishly with so many poor to feed and clothe and house?

Religious groups are always better off trying to lessen human suffering not being instruments in causing more.

This nation still has great deal of work to do on the road back to civility.
