FIB?!? What is it with the "new" 365Gay? Are you so afraid of losing straight advertisers you have to play softball even with a bigot like Dobson? Dobson does not "fib." He LIES. Have the guts to label your stories honestly.

I was looking the the induction for the broadcasting association and say that this &*(#@ hole was a psychologist? Really? The psychology of the bigots? Sorry that this will sound really really horrible, but .. if there is a hell - I hope he is burning big there right now. His hatred still lives on.

Palin Wed. 10/22: In an interview conducted Monday and posted online today, Sarah Palin sat down with “Focus on the Family’s,” Dr. James Dobson.

Dobson, one of the nation’s foremost evangelical leaders, told Palin that he was “asking for God’s intervention” and praying “for a miracle in regard to the election this year.”

The GOP Vice-Presidential nominee said that she gains strength from the supporters she meets on rope lines at campaign events, “I can feel the power of prayer, and that strength that is provided through our prayer warriors across this nation. And I so appreciate it.”

To give the media some credit--although I understand that's not a popular thing to do these days--it's been many years since I've seen Dobson or Focus on the Family quoted in gay articles as a way to present an "opposing viewpoint." So, given that they all think that Dobson's a liar, they're doing the right thing by not quoting him as a reputable alternative viewpoint.

BUT...that doesn't explain why they quoted him extensively throughout the Nineties (perhaps up until the early 00s). They did a lot of harm back then by being lazy and taking his quotes for "balance" before truly checking up on him.

A few years ago, the Southern Poverty Law Center began to list groups like Dobson's as hate groups. That was a courageous move: labeling a religious/Christian group as being a hate group. If the media had...ahem, "gumption"...then they'd follow suit and start printing that the SPLC labels FOF as a hate group (true!). Right along side the lists of Neo Nazi groups, KKK remnants, radical militias, violence provoking anti-immigration groups, and more. (They had an article on a radical, African American, Jewish group...again, that preached hate and violence. The SPLC is a great resource.)

I really feel that when people take the stance of "Oh, God can cure your gay, join us or go to Hell", it's religious discrimination. Because who's to say that the gays in question follows that religious teaching or even have a religion?

Imagine what the outcry would be if he was spouting the same words, only directed at Jews or Buddhists? "They want to destroy our families!" No one would be enshrining him anywhere.
