(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) A New Jersey woman has been charged with stealing $138,000 earmarked for an LGBT community group working with people with HIV/AIDS.
Dorena Kearney, 52, was charged under federal corruption law.Kearney was the executive director of the nonprofit group Colours. The indictment alleges she opened a number of credit card accounts in the organization’s name between 2004 and 2007, using them to buy personal items.
The money went for cosmetic surgery, a cruise and pet supplies, The Associated Press reported.
Kearney did not immediately return a call for comment.
Colours was established in 1991. Its Web site said the organization responds to the lack of positive and progressive educational advocacy and support mechanisms for LGBT people of color in the Greater Philadelphia area.

On the subject of this woman, in relation to men, she seems guilty to me. However, ANY day of the week I’d rather be robbed, oppressed, smacked around by a woman… than any male.
She still rates higher than most men in my book sweetheart, thieving from the gays or not, she’s still better than Obama.

This is another fact that proves that women are as much to blame for this worlds ills as anyone else!
this is another example of corporate greed they should find someone trustworthy to manage the finances in this company this is unacceptable behavior and that person should be prosecuted to the fullest to make an example of them

Several years ago, it came out that one of the people involved with the Cleveland AIDS Walk had been skimming money for a good five years. The year after he was gone, donations were up as much as 20%, and it’s been a LONG time since the economy could be credited with that here. In almost every case, there are at least a few people who know. Same thing happens with fundraisers which are supposed to help other minority groups: the people who see it are reluctant to blow the whistle because they’re afraid the whole group (gay, black, hispanic, chinese, etc…) will “look bad.” The thinking is it’s better to be ripped off by your own than to look like you can’t pull the event together.
Seriously are you all surprised. You make it sound as thought the people within our own community are above human and are incapable of selling out or taking advantage of our own (HRC).
Crooks even in our own community taking advantage of vulnerable people.
It goes to show you that “we” can’t even trust the people who work for the LGBT community HIV/AIDS, that are expected to help these people.
