So Rep Young of St Albans is philosophically opposed to Adam and Steve getting married, but he voted in favor because of politics?? That says that Young's opposition is pretty tepid at best. I wanna get a railroad issue passed, so I'll let the homos get married...dude actually said this?? I mean, good on him that he changed his vote (and I do intend to e-mail as much to him), but...it sounds like either a perfunctory objection, or he's really that much of an opportunist. Can't tell which.

Rep. William Lippert. I've never been to Vermont, but I want to thank him for being part of a legislative caucus that helped bring a change for the better. Thank you, sir.

Missy Brian Brown:
"to the millions that care about marriage": You meant to the millions that want to keep gays and lesbians "in their place". I care about marriage. I think it is great whenever anyone gets married. I just feel I deserve the same contractual and federal rights everyone else gets.

Tom in Long Beach. Still legally married in Ca.

Of course, California's legislature has passed gay marriage, not once, but twice. Unfortunately the governor vetoed it and we did not have enough votes to override.

Hail to Vermont! Hail to Iowa (unanimous)!

Our days as second-class citizens being held captive by outdated, bigoted attitudes are numbered.

I have yet to hear a rational argument for the status quo: Tradition? Slavery was tradition, too. And the definition of marriage has changed many times throughout recorded human history. Still waiting for one good reason.
