We are two American men who fell in love at first sight in 1976, and have been together in love ever since. Our first home together for eight years was NYC, now Easton, Pennsylvania, about 75 minutes west.

We were married in Canada six years ago and entered into a civil union in VT nine years ago.

Our church, MCCNY, is in Manhattan, and we visit NYC almost every weekend. We had considered retiring back to NYC since our marriage is recognized there, and statewide in NY, but not as formally recognized as in 4 other states now. We were divorced by Prop 8 in CA.

We'd probably take our six pensions when we retire to MA, VT, CT, before we'd consider NY unless NY state gets over its heterosexual-supremacist laws and lack of protections for senior gays.

I am a New Yorker and say DO NOT spend your dollars in NY until they step up to the plate. Go instead to MA, CT, VT or Iowa. Show the rest of the country that acceptance brings with it benefits. Our power is in our wallets. Use it wisely.

My partner and I live in NY, own a home here, and pay a lot of taxes here .... but, we were legally married in Massachusetts last Fall. If the economy wasn't in the toilet, we'd sell and move to Vermont or Massachusetts where we are equal citizens. Spend your vacation money in states that have had the courage to defend marriage equality .... not NY, yet. Remember to boycott all businesses owned by Mormon Cultists!

Go to Vermont - Burlington is a fun city with great restaurants, funky shops, and beautiful views of the lake. There's tons to do in the rest of the state as well. Until NY passes marriage equality, I'd avoid it.

Sorry, NY. My next big vac will be to get married. I'm in AZ, so that puts Iowa ahead of you. Really. I'd rather make the trip to NYC, but I spend my gay dollars where they are welcomed.

I suggest that if New York wants our money and our patronage then they put their mouths (and their votes) where OUR money is and pass marriage equality for gay and lesbian couples.

I'm frankly tired of states going all out to draw us to their states with PR stunts rather than with REAL signs that they truly care about us and our welfare.

I say Albany and NYC should put up or shut up.

No HONEY, no MONEY!
