White House to host LGBT reception for pride month

(Washington) The White House will be hosting a reception for LGBT people Monday to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, Pink News reports.

“Next Monday’s event is a chance for the White House to recognize the accomplishments of LGBT Americans,” White House spokesman Shin Inouye said. “Invited guests include families, volunteers and activists, and community leaders.”

The event will be also marked as a part of Pride month.

    • Is Barney Frank on the list? After all, he is right up there for throwing our community under the buss, after all, once he got the chance to read the DOJ memo on DOMA he agreed with it! There is nothing worse in our community than those who are gay, are suppose to be our advocates, and then fight along side the opposition – Joe Solomonese is right there with Barney Frank in the pathetic excuse for a gay man pile! WE NEED NEW LEADERSHIP.

    • Go RandyL Go! Right on.
Only one so far, who is going, who should be is Lt. Col. Fehrenbach the 19-year career AForce pilot who has his DADT case still pending. He wants a chat with Obama.

    • This would be a perfect time to hold a demonstration in DC.

    • RandL, you are so right!!! And isn’t that pathetic!

    • I’m afraid that the other posters will be disappointed in the attendees. These are the type that curry favor and invites instead of doing any actual good. Any self respecting gay would issue a last minute apology…and tell the man why they were not attending…but this group would go to the opening of an envelop

    • And another thing. Congress and Senate have to much power these days. Why don’t we do a cut back on these jobs and save the voters money; Salary, health care, pension. Let them feel the pinch.

    • If we sweep Obama under the carpet, will he go away?

    • What’s the hold up?
Why can’t we do away with: ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ – is it money, power, ?? so we just sweep it under the carpet and maybe it will go away.

    • Lets hope (yes, I know, I’ve been drinking too much cool aid) that the attendess instead of boot licking (and other body parts) will challenge the President in a polite but forceful way. Can we only hope???? Oh, and don’t forget to write down his many excuses so they can be published.

    • From the back of the bus to under the bus…thanks Mr. President for fiercely advocating for us. Sorry I missed the Easter Egg Hunt on the White House lawn.

    • Huh? Did I read this right… He’s hosting a reception after lying to us and still throwing us under the bus. Good God, What next?

    • I hope that the invitees will take the opportunity to tell the President that he should stop firing people in the military for being gay.

    • This is all very good that we have been recognized as a distinct minority with special needs but more action is needed and must be stressed to President Obama. A reception is nice for the people who go to it but it is our rights which must be addressed soon. I know that the president has many problems in our country to deal with but we must come real soon after those issues are solved!

    • Hope the invitees dont turn up only to be told the event has been cancelled cause the President doesnt want incestuous type people in his home
