Washington state senate passes anti-bullying law
The Washington state senate last week passed an anti-bullying law that includes protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students, with a vote of 48-0, according to Equal Rights Washington. Earlier in the session, the House voted to pass the bill 97-0.
Gov. Chris Gregoire vowed to sign the bill when it hits her desk.
The bill will create anti-harassment policies in schools across the state. Each school will create a staff position that handles all harassment and bullying complaints. In addition, the bill states the school’s policies on harassment and bullying must be available online.
“Today let us celebrate the leadership of Representative Marko Liias who championed this legislation, the commitment of the legislature to ensuring that every student enjoys a safe learning environment and the ongoing work of the Safe Schools Coalition,” Josh Friedes, advocacy director of Equal Rights Washington said in a statement.

Wonderful! Even better, the law passed with bipartisan support!
I have never heard of everybody agreeing in politics before this is wonderful news. NO MORE BULLYING!!!
Now if the other states would pass these laws, maybe bullying in schools would stop.
Lets See PFOX try to spread their shit now.
This is good news , especially with bi-partisan support , but I cannot help but wonder why these changes didn’t take place 30 years ago. I am baffled by the fact that the religious right is able to continue to spread lies and slander about gays under the guise of religious beliefs. They issue dire warnings about gays in the military and same-sex mariage as if Canada and the UK don’t exist as proof that their predictions are crap.
