Having grown up, and lived most of my life in Washington state, I can tell you they WILL get the signatures they need for a referendum by July. The western part of the state may be blue, but the eastern side bleeds red.

I appreciate the efforts of the Governor, and and happy to see the steps forward, but the vote will not go our way.

As we used to say in the 60′s…. better dead than red…..

Gregoire is a hypocrite. On NPR she was saying how there are no differences between gay and straight couples, while signing a bill which says that we are different under law. Until it is marriage it is not equality.

Well Its not called officially “MARRIAGE” just yet, but we all KNOW that’s what it REALLY is and it WILL be within the next 5 years by same name!!

Coming from a state ruled by Christian Right Wing, Nazi(s), Ignorant Bigot “Christian” Blacks, etc. (the south) can’t even get a piece of TOILET PAPER with mine and my partners name written on it, therefore a “civil union” or “domestic partnership” is an nice effort!

Best of Luck to all those in MARRIAGE EQULALITY and Something that Resembles Marriage. Don’t forget about helping us po’folks in all the other backwards States.

That “almost all” could be a blessing in disguise. It might be easier to pass marriage equality if opponents can’t argue that we already have all the rights of marriage.

If it’s really “all”, we’ll need studies showing that the domestic partnerships don’t really work: that same-sex partners are still being treated unequally despite having equal rights in theory.

A big step forward. Give it a few years, and the laws will be changed to replace the word “marriage” with “civil marriage”, for gay and str8 alike.

To clarify that civil marriage has nothing to do with religious marriage.

And I seem to remember that the bigots of the relgious right who tried to do this before re the limited civil unions bill failed badly re a referendum.

But lets not be unprepared, everyone of these battles is important. To win, and to further expose the fanatacism of the religious right churches, who forget the old Golden Rule. The central core of what religion should be about.

Keep an eye out for the petitioners in Washington and make sure they are not lying to anyone about what the petition is really about. And if you can undermine the petitioners at every turn.
