Vatican: ‘Homosexual behavior’ in decline

(Washington) A Vatican office that evaluated U.S. Roman Catholic seminaries says the schools have made improvements in halting what they call “homosexual behavior” among students.

The Vatican also says seminaries are doing well in teaching about celibacy and are generally effective in screening candidates for the priesthood.

The Vatican ordered the seminary review in response to the clergy sex abuse crisis to see whether the schools had contributed to the problem.

The Vatican also directed evaluators to look for “evidence of homosexuality” in the schools.

Some Catholics blame gay clergy for the abuse scandal. Experts on sex offenders say gays are no more likely than others to molest children.

    • According to the Catholic Church: 1.God created man; 2. God is perfect; Therefore,(if God is perfect)God cannot create anything that is imperfect because that which is perfect knows no imperfection. Consequently, homosexuals have to be part of God’s overall plan. The fact that the Catholic Church preaches against God’s plan is self evident; i.e Churches get most of their dues paying members as a result of childbirths of it married heterosexuals. Whereas, most homosexuals do not bear children, the churches, naturally. have to preach against Gays for survival.

    • The only good thing about Prop 8 is that it curred me of my last lingering fondess for the Catholic Church. I 100 % agree with Frank. This new Pope is like Jerry Falwell. I kind of liked the last one, But now I am curred of my
      Catholism

    • I’m dying to see a list of things the Vatican sees as “evidence of homosexuality”. Can someone get me a list? Though I’m sure there will be EVERY stereotype about gays, I still would like to know.

And to Kimberly, I went to Catholic school too and what you should be saying is that it “didn’t hurt me too badly.”

    • Well, Catholic school didn’t help me at all.

    • This is funny! What a hoot! If there are no gays in Iran, and few in seminaries, maybe we should be declared an endangered species and given federal protection of our habitat!

    • They don’t deserve us.

Funny, this coming from a church whose headquarters building were designed by a raging homosexual. It has homo written all over the place. But now that is all male macho church. Good luck finding compassionate listeners and advisers to their female audience. This church is going the way of the Dodo.

    • They WISH!

If women and gays left the Roman Catholic Church, there wouldn’t be much left.

The Vatican isn’t known for truthfulness … they lied about the abuse scandal and then tried to hang the “paedophile” label on gay people.

Ehhh … if they don’t allow married priests, women priests, and gay priests, the Roman Catholic Church as we know it will cease to exist in about 30 years. The average age of a priest in the US is 58 and rising … do the math; there are nowhere NEAR enough new vocations to replace the priests who retire or die.

Los Angeles, one of the largest archdioceses, ordains a maximum of one or two men a year; at least 20 die or retire. I read somewhere that there hadn’t been a vocation to the priesthood in the Archdiocese of Paris, France in something like TEN years (!).

    • Probably because there are less Catholics nowadays.
Aren’t Catholics some sort of christian cult that are supposedly there to tell the message of a character named Christ, in stead of taking statistics on who and who’s not having sex?

    • The catholic church is becoming less and less relevent to contemporary life, which is why they have become more and more strident in their approach.

    • Totally agree with Mark – all they succeeded in doing was pushing the issue further underground. Gee, wasn’t that what caused some of the problems they had in the first place?

  • Frank Said: January 15th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
    • One thing’s for sure. There’s less CATHOLIC behavior amongst the homosexuals and for that we can be grateful!

    • Once again the Holy Roman Catholic Church is in DENIAL!
Homosexual behavior is not on the decline…
Seminarians ability to hide their sexual orientation appears to have improved though!

    • The Vatican is one HUGE ostrich with its head stuck in a sand dune……
