Victory-backed candidate and open lesbian Sandra Kurt will become the first openly LGBT member of the Akron, Ohio City Council after beating back last-minute anti-gay attacks to win her election tonight.
Victory Fund candidate Charles Pugh will become the first openly gay member of the Detroit City Council. But the political newcomer could also become the city council president if he continues to hold on to the top spot among 18 candidates vying for 9 at-large city council seats.

Now, we have grown up a little socially, not much, but a little more. A lesbian and gay black man in office,Pat Robertson & all the 700 club is going to have a fit. By the way does the 700 club refer to the amount of the original number of bigots in the club?
