(New York City) Miss California USA can retain her crown even though she failed to reveal she had posed in her underwear as a teenager, pageant owner Donald Trump said Tuesday.
Carrie Prejean appeared by Trump’s side as he made the announcement at New York’s Trump Tower.Trump also defended the answer that Prejean gave at last month’s Miss USA pageant when she was asked her view of marriage by judge Perez Hilton, a celebrity blogger. She said she believes marriage is between a man and a woman.
“It’s the same answer the president of the United States gave; it’s the same answer many people gave,” Trump said. “She gave an honorable answer; she gave an answer from her heart.”
Trump said he and other pageant officials had reviewed racy photos of Prejean and decided they were acceptable.
“We are in the 21st century. We have determined the pictures taken are fine,” he said, adding that “in some cases the pictures were lovely.”
After Trump spoke, the 21-year-old Prejean, who was accompanied by her parents, took her turn at the lectern, defending herself against what she described as vicious attacks.
She talked about getting thousands of letters and e-mails from people supporting her and said, about the marriage question, that Hilton had asked her a “politically charged question with a hidden personal agenda.”
“I stated my honest belief,” she said.
Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, is best known as a celebrity blogger but has also branched off into gay rights advocacy.

Maybe now anyone other than the fundmentalist nutjobs can stop giving this bimbo undue attention. I could care less what Miss Teen Panties Prejean has to say about manicures, let alone government policy. The sooner she fades in the collective memory, the better. Let Fox News have her–we have world leaders, they can have some podunk beauty queen.
Trump is an arrogant homophobe himself, so this decision is unsurprising.
At least, this tragic soul won’t be able to claim she is a “martyr” or “victim”.
So, this is her honest opinion. Well, this is mine.
Carrie, you are sad – but you are hardly alone. In a culture that has an unhealthy obssession with physical beauty and youth – you are indeded a classic example of that narcissistic, vapid type of individual.
You are a liar. You signed a contract that asked you directly if you had pictures that might be deemed compromising. You said you did not. You lied. You were required by your contract to represent all of the people of CA, but your first actions after the pagaent were to make multiple appearances before a divisive religious group. You were contractually obligated to clear your appearances, as a representative of CA, before doing this. You broke your agreement to do that. So, again, you lied.
The fact that you had “breast augmentation” hardly matters. The entire pagaent is based upon superficiality.
I will add one thing however, Perez Hilton is a hyper-ventilating queen of the worst kind. He doesn’t care about picking his battles carefully as long as he gains media attention in the process. Perez: Grow up or shut up!

I think Donald Trump did the right thing. If he had stripped her of her “title,” she would have gone all “Christian” martyr on us–that is, if her fertility cult can really be called Christianity.
This takes some of the gas out of that gas bag.

Donald Trump and all his business dealings should be BOYCOTED. If Carrie would have said that she believed marriage should only between people of the same race, she would be called a racist. But Trump is willing to crown an “honorable” Homophobe. Gays should stand up against discrimination. If Carrie was labeled a racist, there would be a revolt. NO MORE MR. NICE GAYS !!!!

I find it interesting that the Donald can find it “lovely” of the pictures and says that we are in the 21st century. So if that is the case, why then are they living in the DARK AGES thinking that gay people don’t have the same right to marry.

Trump through the local pageant officials under the bus. He apparently doesn’t have a problem with Prejean’s falsehoods or failure to comply with his own contracts.
This is so much less about Prejean’s hypocrisy, but the hypocrisy of the religious right. Had anyone that spoke out for marriage equality did any of the things that Carrie did, the religious right would be calling for their head much more feverishly (and much more organized) than we ever did.

Politically charged question? Maybe. Hidden personal agenda? Not so hidden. Is she making some sort of a statement or judgment here? Who knows… But then after being asked a “politically charged statement”… what does she do? Takes part in a “politically charged” PSA.
So is she for, or against, politically charged messages?
I know it will break a lot of gay men’s hearts, but we need to boycott the Miss America Pageant. Donald Trump needs to learn that defending discriminatory comments and perspects is NEVER acceptable–especially in an industry so heavily supported by the gay community.
I am stating my honest belief that all beauty contestants should be stoned to death for not covering their hair and bodies with a burqa. Displaying oneself for the purpose of titillating males and pressuring them to arousal is against my honest beliefs, so the contestants should be punished.
