Do I need to mention why “No Child left behind” was so dumbed down- so the GOP could keep in power in states like this. Keep them stupid and you have control of them forever.

I would like to point out that Tennessee was the last state to ratify the 15th Amendment (April 2, 1997, after having rejected it on November 16, 1869)

I am often very distressed that Republicans want to destroy this nations freedoms that are inscribed in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. This gag rule creates a special class of people —heterosexuals and perpetuates Tennesses long known bigotry–where cops violate the Supreme Court’s ruling of Lawrence vs Texas et al. The State unlawfully allows the Southern Baptist Church to dictate its affairs and influence’s its laws. Someone is asleep at the wheel, in this country, and they need to wake up and kick Religion out of Government before it all ends up in one jihad with church and religion against a different religion. Drewski is very correct about this state.

Frankly said: You are playing a high risk game. In all probability, the Courts will not see this as they did the KKK 1.6 million dollar case and rule against the LGBT community at the circuit court level but Washington would then have to overturn the lower courts decision–IF they decided to review the case.

They’re going to have a difficult time teaching why the term “heterosexual” was coined.

It was coined in the early 1900′s (1907?)by scientists studying sexuality, when then found a need to classify people who weren’t “homosexual”.

The word “homosexual” was officially coined around 1898!

Of course, the fundies don’t recognize sexual orientation anyway.

I thought there was this little thing called “freedom of speech”. I thought THAT was a protected right under the law. Why are the republicans even bothering with this – As with their other anti-gay crap, they have nothing to back them up on this, if it was challenged in court, it would be struck down. Oh hold on, it just dawned on me. The proponents are just spiteful.

If they ban the word ‘gay’ or even any mentioning of our existence, they should probably make it illegal to say ‘christian’ or ever mention their existence or dogma either. I am fine if they play fair.

Our society is so afraid of TRUE education. Shouldn’t we prepare students the truth that life and the world is full of diversity. Perhaps if this is taught earlier and detailed in our schools we wouldn’t have such high std rates, pregancy rates, sexual oppresion, and discrimination against those who are different. The government does nothing but hinder society and encourages ignorance.
