(Milwaukee, Wisconsin) An 18-year-old male student is accused of posing as a girl on Facebook, tricking at least 31 male classmates into sending him naked photos of themselves and then blackmailing some for sex acts.
“The kind of manipulation that occurred here is really sinister in my estimation,” Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel said Wednesday.The students go to New Berlin Eisenhower High School in New Berlin, which is in Waukesha County about 15 miles west of Milwaukee.
Anthony Stancl, of New Berlin, was charged Wednesday with five counts of child enticement, two counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child, two counts of third-degree sexual assault, possession of child pornography, repeated sexual assault of the same child, and making a bomb threat.
Stancl’s attorney, Craig Kuhary, said Stancl plans to plead not guilty to the charges and hopes to reach a plea agreement with the district attorney
“It’s too early in the case for me to make a statement, other than the fact at some point we are going to go into events that had taken place earlier that might have had some impact on what he did here,” he said. He wouldn’t go into specifics.
The incidents allegedly happened from spring 2007 through November, when officers questioned Stancl about a bomb threat he allegedly sent to teachers and wrote about on a school’s bathroom wall. It resulted in the closing of New Berlin Eisenhower Middle and High School.
According to the criminal complaint, Stancl first contacted the students through the social networking site Facebook, pretending to be a girl named Kayla or Emily.
The boys reported that they were tricked into sending nude photos or videos of themselves, the complaint said.
Thirty-one victims were identified and interviewed and more than half said the girl with whom they thought they were communicating tried to get them to meet with a male friend to let him perform sex acts on them.
They were told that if they didn’t, she would send the nude photos or movies to their friends and post them on the Internet, according to the complaint. Stancl allegedly used the excuse to get the victims to perform repeated acts, the complaint said.
Seven boys were identified in the complaint by their initials as either having to allegedly perform sex acts on Stancl or Stancl on them. The complaint said Stancl took photos with his cell phone of the encounters.
Officers found about 300 nude images of juvenile males on his computer, according to the complaint. Prosecutors said the victims were as young as 15.
A preliminary hearing for Stancl has been scheduled for Feb. 26. The maximum penalty if convicted on all charges is nearly 300 years in prison.
this is just stupid. 300 years. Okay he did something really dumb but this kid is still a kid too..had he been 30 years old messing around with these under 18 year old kids then i would say go for it. Regardless if he is gay or not. I do believe more is being made of it because its 2 males involved. He is still a child I do not believe taking his entire life a way is appropriate at all. I know they are all kids and making stupid choices are part of being a child. He does need some sort of punishment but..not 300 years
Well its about time we look at the law and the spirit of it , NOT THE LETTER. This boy is not a preditor he is dealing with his peers in school we need to look at the age range, these other boys are just as caupaple for sending there photos, Even if it was to a female .gender should not play a part In sentencing How can I help

Sam: No one was MADE to do anything. Social blackmail to avoid embarrassing even humiliating consequences is not force or even corecion.
It’s not as if this kid forcefully pressed his croth in the faces of the other boys or threatned them with physical violence if they did not comply.
I am not sure exactly what the reasoning is behind the non-statutory rape charges constitutes assault. I bet it is one extrodinary stretch of interpreation of the law.

Making someone, anyone, do ANYTHING sexual against their will is wrong. Plain and simple. End of story, case closed. For those who think he is not a criminal, I offer these profound words of wisdom;

How can you be “tricked” into sending nude videos or photos of yourself? They “tricked” you into getting naked, getting your camera, taking a picture, transferring it to your computer and then email it? Hardly.
You know what, arrest me because I’ve done the exact same thing with my friends and classmates in High School.
What about all the boys who SENT the photos to the minor? Are THEY going to be charged with distributing child pornography? Probably not. It’s not like the kid put a gun to their head and made them get naked and send him pictures. They chose to do it. They’re just as guilty.
Law enforcement needs to be downsized. We spend too much money worrying about stupid things like this. The kid was stupid, how about expell him? Or community service. But no, we get the thousands spent to unlock his hard drive and prosecute this case.
The ridiculousness of it is shown in this statement: “The boys reported that they were tricked into sending nude photos or videos of themselves”. What trick? Did they not know the photos were nude? Did they not know they were of themselves? Seems to me they weren’t tricked into sending them at all..they did so of their own free will. Why not prosecute them for engaging in underage pornography?
To me this is a case of a sinister young guy behaving badly, and of a bunch of horny guys suckered into his scam…which is a pretty funny way to get some, in my opinion.
Maybe we should be prosecuting actual criminals?
As scummy as this KID’S behavior is, there was nothing criminal in nature about it, except the bomb threat.
Social blackmail does not legally constitute blackmail. Blackmail is only a crime when the enforcement of law is used as a tool for extortion. That is why this kid was not charged with blackmail.
Everything else he is being charged with is mostly pedophilia for having sex or nude pics of peers close to his own age.
I once knew a heterosexual man who was 18 at the time he got charged for having sex with his 17 y/o girlfriend even though a sexual relationship started when he was also 17. Neither the girl nor her mom (her only legal parent) wanted to press charges.
The problem is badly written laws that:
1) Do not account for close in age sexual relationships between very young adults and older adolescents even when sex started when both were minors.
2) Child pornography laws that were written during the pre-internet era when virtually all pictures of nude adolescents were distributed by older adults for either profit or pedophile pic exchange. Child porn laws do not account for adolescents taking nude pics of themselves and distributing them to friends and far less commonly, adolescents making their own porn sites illegally.
While at once manipulative and viciously coercive, I have to agree with ABQkevin. This happens quite a bit in the str8 world. Yet, not a whole heck of a lot is made of it. When it’s male/male then the world goes out for blood. I look at this as vindication for women, now perhaps men will know what women feel, when they are sexually manipulated by men.
These are the stories that just don’t help our cause any. Sad.
I really want to high five him, but in a secret corner because then everyone in New Berlin would probably try to arrest me for attempted high fiving of a potential minor. Or just because I’m gay. Are these people seriously charging an eighteen year old with all of this instead of coercion and so on? Ridiculous foul idiotic dirks.

Can you imagine how crowded the prisons would be if every 18 year old straight male who had sex with a girl a few years younger than him was sent to prison for 300 years?
