Just to clarify it is actually the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

Well it shouldn’t be called Mardi Gras.

Mardi Gras means “Fat Tuesday” and is an event that stems from “Carnival” and Catholic Religion (unfortunately) and getting out all the sins before the Epiphany, bla bla bla.

But it should INDEED be called a PRIDE event or Gay Festival but realistically, I am sorry but its NOT MARDI GRAS!

If the event happened on Tues AT LEAST then I would say “mardi gras” but otherwise sounds like a rip off from NEW ORLEANS (Real Mardi Gras) Even in Brazil its called Carnival.

In new orleans, they have mardi gras, Pride and then “Southern Decadance” which is like what you all call mardi gras in AUS.

Just my 2 cents, Just my opinion. And yes, Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one!

It’s not called Pride.

We have other Pride-y things in June. The is called Mardi Gras.
