I am reading Williams' selected letters in two volumes. He had his first gay sex in California and was totally turned off by it. He would, of course, overcome his self-doubts but from biographies I have read, he treated his lovers with disdain bordering on contempt. I don't think he ever fully "adjusted."

Those interested in learning more about the life and work of Tennessee Williams may be interested to know that scholarly analysis of his work was done by Jack Fritscher, still very active in LGBT writing and scholarship. I believe Jack did his work on Tennessee Williams during the 1960s.
