I'm not bashing him. I voted for him. I had reservations then, and I'm concerned that my reservations are being confirmed. I still give Obama good marks, and it's a damn sight better than having McCain suck up to the faction of sociopaths who hijacked the GOP, but some things on his end wouldn't really cost so much in political capital. Yes, he and his family are scrutinized, and you better damn well bet that the race card will be played by someone at Fox as soon as they have the opportunity. It's a delicate dance and I understand that. However, that delicate dance keeps stepping on gay toes and kicking gay shins. Right now, it still feels like there's a bucket of pig blood up there in a bucket. Obama is very gifted in the art of delivering a civil but thoroughly brutal verbal bitch-slap. He can't take a position against DOMA? Throw it back at the wingnuts--why use the Federal government to address something that is squarely under state's rights? DADT--you'll take gang members and felons into the Armed Services, but not young patriotic Americans who happen to be gay? Prop 8--state issue, sure, but he inserted himself into it before. Presidents do that to support their party in a state. So either the Dems are too spineless to acknowledge he's a 'phobe, or they want to pretend that you can't be a Dem and be a 'phobe. That's where I appreciate the raw bigotry of the GOP--at least they're honest in their desire to discriminate. No, Obama gets no free pass, because he's too skilled a politician and too smart a man to get away with such conduct.

Obama has moved forward in several areas. We can now advance stem cell research, we now have some federal support in medical marijuana, and we are now signing on to help stop discrimination world wide with a group we were not members of until a short time ago. I am sure he has helped to push other issues I don’t keep track off as well. While the president has power, it is still tempered by a process that takes time. He did take on a steaming pile of embarrassing crap that took years to build up so it stands to reason it will take more than 100 days to recycle into something. On top of the pressure of the big problems, he and his family have had to make a HUGE adjustment to their lives. PLUS, every move they make is public. I would not want the job on a good day, would you?
I he is getting a lot done in a short time under the circumstances.

Uh are you people serious? You're critising him for doing more than any other president in the history of the US has done for us?!?

Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth. Jesus christ.
Incase you haven't noticed we're LOSING SUPPORTERS. It's because of this attitude. Thank Obama for all he's done for us, which isnt much but he could have said "stuff you and your rights" like Bush did. He didn't, he's trying.

Get a grip people! UGH!

Huzzah for an empty step towards a noble aspiration... I mean the UN is slowly going the same way as its predecessor The League of Nations. Its a beauracratic orginization with little to no power to DO anything to ensure its declerations are carried out. Decriminalization should be our goal world wide; however, the UN seems the wrong front to do it in.

This is long overdue, and why it would prompt more congratulation than washing dirty plates from February is kinda beyond me. We had eight years of self-induced global embarassment, and now it's time for a major cleanup operation. This is housekeeping, and though I voted for Obama, I'm also getting very tired of having my civil rights in my own country treated as if they're a minor issue.

The fact remains that Obama is taking steps and moving many issues forward including gay rights issues. We need to be villagent and keep the pressure on but really give the guy some credit for moving forward not backwards.

C'mon everyone. Could we just all take a deep breath... and spend more than 10 seconds celebrating this before we think of something negative to say? Please! I for one am elated and I'm going to spend the rest of the week being encouraged by what I'm seeing. Let's all channel some positive attraction.

I can say three nice things. I think that he's a handsome man. I think that he's likely a good husband and father.

Anything else, I've not seen reason for praise.

Well, I can say that Obama has lived up to every expectation that I've had of him. Man, he certainly does not disappoint those that looked beyond the curtain to see the man in the empty suit.
