Skinhead ordered to stand trial in gay man’s slaying

(Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) Darrell Lynn Madden, a man described as a skinhead and white supremacist, is heading to trial on charges of kidnapping and first-degree murder in the slaying of a gay Oklahoma man last year.

Prosecutors say the killing of Steven Domer, 62, was part of a gang initiation.

Domer was abducted in a gay neighborhood last October 26.  His burned-out car was found the following day and Domer’s body was discovered in a nearby ravine. An autopsy found he had been strangled with a coat hanger.

Friends said that Domer sometimes picked up other men for sex. Witnesses said that Domer was seen talking to two men the night he disappeared.

Investigators then began probing whether anyone known to be gay lived in the area where Domer’s body was found.

That led them to Darrell Lynn Madden, 38, described as bisexual.

At the time, Madden was already facing a murder charge in connection with the slaying of his friend Bradley Qualls. Qualls was murdered about ten days after Domer disappeared.

Madden was charged with the Domer killing while he lay in a hospital bed after being shot by police during his arrest for the Qualls murder.

Police allege that both Madden and Qualls were connected to the United Aryan Brotherhood, a violent white supremacist group.

According to an affidavit filed by the prosecutor in the Domer case, the killing was part of an initiation for Qualls. Both Qualls and Madden fit descriptions of the two men who Domer was seen talking to shortly before he disappeared.

The court documents show that Madden’s roommate told police he overheard Madden and another man talking about killing someone who “wouldn’t even fight back.”

A woman Madden had sometimes dated said she heard him and Qualls talk about killing a man, the affidavit stated.

Madden pleaded guilty in July to killing Qualls. His trial in the killing of Domer will begin Oct. 27.

    • This is not a surprise. The current ‘governor’ of Oklahoma thinks gays are a bigger threat to America than terrorists. Is it any wonder, with ‘leaders’ like that, that the homophobic populace gets away with murder so often.

    • This scares me, as I’m a gay male teen resident of Oklahoma. The next one could be me. And believe me, the stereotypes are true; all the people here are rednecks & Bible thumpers. Perhaps that’s because I live in a smalltown, although this very incident happened in the capital.. so

    • He is going to trial. Does anyone really believe that he will get what he really deserves for killing two human beings. He plead guilty to killing his friend. Does anyone want to place any bet as to him getting the death penalty at trial. Remember now, this is a trial in an Oklahoma state court with a jury of Oklahoma citizens and the person that he is being tried for having killed was one of those terrible “queers”. I can hardly wait to hear the verdict and punishment resulting from this trail!

    • Elektrisk: When you are out of school, leave Oklahoma; you deserve a better life. Come to New York where you can be who you are and love who you are. In a few months we will be on the cusp of granting full marriage equality to all New Yorkers. You can live in a loving community where you will be accepted and loved as a gay man.

    • George, your statement is not correct. That was not the Governor who said that it was State Representative Sally Kern and she is crazy. Hate crimes happen everywhere.

Elektrisk, gay life is not so bad in OKC. Just be who you are and be smart and you’ll be fine.

    • Maybe Oklahoma Legislator Sally Kean can be a character witness at his trial. I’m sure she finds him a great example of what every Oklahoman should strive to be, a redneck bigot who hates gays and helps rid the state of this threat. Oh wait, the article said he was bisexual, so is he only half an example of an outstanding citizen?
