(Oklahoma City) A state lawmaker who made national headlines by claiming homosexuality is a greater threat to the United States than terrorism was heckled by protesters as she launched a campaign for a morality proclamation that opponents said promotes an atmosphere of hate.
Rep. Sally Kern said the U.S. is drifting from traditional Christian values as she sought signatures for her petition at a state Capitol rally attended by about 250 people including ministers and their followers, four other state lawmakers, and protesters who shouted “shame on you” and “hypocrite.”“You are seeing a wonderful demonstration of intolerance,” the conservative Republican from Oklahoma City said of the hecklers.
Among other things, the proclamation says, “This nation has become a world leader in promoting abortion, pornography, same-sex marriage, sex trafficking, divorce, illegitimate births, child abuse and many other forms of debauchery.”
The proclamation declares the federal government “is forsaking the rich Christian heritage upon which this nation was built.”
Last year, gay and lesbian groups demanded Kern apologize after she told a political group that “the homosexual agenda is just destroying this nation” and poses a bigger threat to the United States than terrorism.
Is she really this STUPID? Does she really believe what she said? Or is she just another self-serving life-long politician tnat will say and do anything to keep her job because her constituency is that ignorant and bigotted? Ever hear of the separation of Church and State or did you miss that day at school? IGNORANCE and RELIGION are the biggest threats to this nation, not terrorists or gays.
Ms. Kern’s rhetoric is the kind of social conservative “free speech” that includes lies, deceptions, and deliberate efforts to raise fear and hate.
As a Christian, I would also like to point out the United States and Canada were founded on freedom of religion and that includes the freedom not to believe. They were not founded as Christian nations or on “Christian values” a term which can be debated concerning its meaning.
She looks like a nice old grandma but evil lurks within!
Unfortunately she is not stupid, nor is she nuts. She will probably get re-elected. She does not believe in separation of church and state, she has made that clear.She believe that GLBT people are degenerates. She has also made that clear. We, as a community need to continue the fight for equality. For me, people like her just put gas in my fuel tank and help me keep strong.
Since she is trying to be a so-call “morality” leader lets start digging into her background. Like all Republicans that spout morality their are big old secrets in her closet. All we have to do is shine a light on her vices to prove what a lying hypercrital person she is.
BTW wasn’t she the idiot who brought a gun onto government property and she didn’t have a conceal license for it?

this could not be more incorrect, the founding fathers agreed to the belief that there is a supreme being(god, for lack of better term) and that was it, the discussion of religion was never tolerated, a good number of the founders were Freemasons, members of which agree to the existence of supreme being and do not suffer the discussion at all.
with the firm and fast belief that everyone is entitled to worship (or not) as they believe.and that no-one should govern your most private of affairs.

She needs to have that giant stick removed from her ass. It’s people like her that make me rethink my religious beliefs, and whether I should remove religion from my life.

This woman is nothing more than the devil in disguise. And not so subtle a disguise, I might add.
What an amazing statement: “You are seeing a wonderful demonstration of intolerance.” How hypocritical of her. She is the one who is demonstrating intolerance and yet all she can see is that those who oppose her views are the intolerant ones! Really? I consider myself a Christian and have many devout friends who are extremely tolerant of others and their views. She does not represent me or them. Only a cache of those who claim Christianity but don’t (apparently) practice it! Wake up people!
The Founding fathers were never more clear about individual liberty and freedom of, and from, religion when they wrote:
“all men…are endowed by THEIR creator…certain inalienable rights.”
The active word here is “THEIR,” meaning you and me. As “THEIR” is POSSESIVE NOUN, we are each endowed by our own idea of a ‘Creator’. If you believe that your ‘creator’ is a toaster-oven, then SO BE IT.
If the founding fathers meant this nation to be a christian nation, they would have used “Lord God Jesus” not ‘creator’.
The day the religious right begins to understand this nation is a secular nation, with secular origins will be the day that pigs fly.
Too much money and power in the Hate Industry.
Morality begins at home. In Oklahoma. It begins by helping bigots to jobs. Jobs for to unemployed bigots. That is being charitable. Kind of like those jobs that that keep sociopaths (like Sally) away from public office and away from teens and kids. She is not the kind of influence the public needs. Especially those who are vulnerable and impressionable kids and teens.
As a gay Christian, I have to agree that ignorance and religion are the biggest threats to this nation these days especially when in the hands of power-drunk oppressors like Sally Kerns.
She wants to whip up the unthinking masses to a frenzy against gay people, and she calls gay people intolerant.

Did everyone know that this twat is a card carrying member of the Oklahoma branch of the Christian Taliban? In fact, she is the President of the chapter. So who’s surprised?
