Loading ...Rudy a no-show at gay pals’ wedding

(New York City) When then-mayor Rudy Giuliani was forced to leave home during a nasty divorce in 2001, he was taken in by Howard Koeppel and his longtime partner Mark Hsaio.
He stayed for months with the couple in their $2.37 million dollar Manhattan home and invited the men to his wedding to Judith Nathan, the “other woman” who led to his divorce.That was when the mayor was appearing in drag at an LGBT rights event and touting his support for gay issues.
But now that Giuliani is making noises about a possible GOP run for governor, he isn’t quite so gay positive, even criticizing Democratic Gov. David Paterson for pushing a marriage equality bill. Giuliani said that he would support civil unions.
So when Koeppel and Hsaio were married over the weekend in Connecticut, their old pal was a no-show.
“Rudy and Judith were both invited with a beautiful written invitation by mail,” Koeppel told The New York Post.
But on Thursday, Giuliani had an aide call to say he would not be there.
The couple said the snub did not spoil their wedding.
“I danced at his wedding with [his wife] Judith [Nathan], and it would have been nice if he’d danced at mine,” Koeppel told The Post, adding, “I understand why he’s doing what he’s doing. If he decides to run for governor . . . he’s a Republican, and he’s taking a Republican stand” on same-sex marriage.
My partner and I live in Washington DC. Marion Barry always supported the LGBT community and we supported him thru some REALLY ugly times with him. This past week he stood with a group of anti-gay protestors in DC and voted no on the bill for DC to recognize marriages performed in states where it is legal. It is all about politics and he is mud now. Shame on the opportunists!
again we are only friends when it is convenient reminds me of a fomrer workmate who stayed wiht lesbian friends during and immediately after a deviroce and when she remarried and found religion we were no good scum very sad perhaps karma will soundly bite Rudi also
@Disgusted American: I take great offense to you refering to Log Cabin Republicans as “fags”. I draw comparisons to the “N-word”. When black people use that word to refer to each other, it makes it more acceptable for others to use the word with devious intent. That word is hateful, and should not be used, espescially from one gay person to another.
Being a LCR has nothing to do with being selfish. Who says every gay person is entitled to believe EXACTLY as you do? Gay people are individuals too, and just as I would hope you would not like to be pigeon-holed into some societal stereotype, I and other like-minded people would hope that you would extend us the same courtesy.
I’d have to give Rudy his walking papers. Son of a bitch.
What a surprise. Rudy is two faced after all. When it comes to gay marriage, he shows his true colors. How sad that he puts politics above friendship.

Guliani has no principles, never has, never will. He is an opportunist.
They should have told Rudi to find a nice, warm, grate near Grand Central Station.
Of course he didn’t go….I mean he wouldn’t want pictures of himself at a “Gay Wedding” when he runs for Governor – while USING Gay Marriage/Marriage Equality as a WEDGE ISSUE to bring out the Bigots to vote for him. …and his 2 supposed Gay LCR friends can Go EFF themselves! (the only reason they are Repukes is THEY have Money $$$$) Typical Selfish LCR Fags! Without Equality it doesn’t matter how much money you have…..same goes for Good Health.
