It is standard practice on all AP stories (when there could be multiple proununciations to include a phoenetic spelling for broadcast jouranlists. I believe the better way to phoeneticize that would be GREEF or GRIF depending on correct pronounciation. No comment on story, I just found all that instruction a little annoying.
