Me solidarizo con la comunidad GLBTT para que pueda casarse y en contra de lideres homofobicos. Pero no se olviden de las mujeres transexuales para la actualización de certificado de nacimiento y la reasignación de sexo.

So much of prop 8 passing is the fault of gay "leaders" and activists. Prior to the election, mainstream news articles were predicting that there would be a huge African American voter turnout because of Obama, and that they'd be the final ingredient needed to push Prop 8 through. But gay "leaders" considered that just too politically incorrect to make public like they should have. With more info., millions more gay men and women in California would have actually bothered to vote, and that would have killed Prop 8. Political correctness can be deadly. We need new and honest leaders.

Jimbo, I think Eddie's got a very good point. Demonstrations in front of all these churches and any mormon rat holes we can find should be organized. Signs saying - What would jesus do? -
Jesus said: "Slave obey thy master"(with the appropriate scriptural references that the "saved" love so much) -
Matthew Sheppard thanks you for all your christian love and prayers, he'll never get married! and of course the generic - "murderers", "bigots",
"facists" etc. with the appropriate denomination or sect header. Silent, respectful of THEIR rights, but exercising our right to free speech. Not as much fun as a rich gay white party but, like it says in the mastercard ad, it would be priceless!

Frankly- Yes the story is different, no race has went through what the blacks in this country has, but the discrimination and that bigotry is the same. And we just have to get the minority community to see that no one is trying to force them to change their religious views. Religion has carried our community through slavery and jim crow, so it is very dear and precious to the black community. So no one is saying accept or embrace the gay community, I am just telling my fellow sisters and brothers, that the way they are treating us is the same sort of discrimination they experienced in the 60's. Seperate but equal doesn't work....No ONE is free until ALL are free...

We need to take a new direction. We need to take this beyond recognition of marriage rights. We need to lay the lgeal foundation to nullify the notion that basic civil rights, already guaranteed in the US and state constitutions, can be made subject to popular vote. This would include constitutional amendments because one cannot amend constitutions to make them self contradictory. All people are entitled to basic civl rights and those rights are not subject to initiatives and referenda or amendments that are contrary to what is alrady constitutionally given to everyone. Democracy is not based upon majority rule but upon guaranteed individual rights.

1. The government did create civil marriage. "By the power vested in me by the State of California I pronounce you etc etc.
2. The irony is that the large black turnout for Obama led directly to the passage of Prop 8. African-Americans voted 70% yes.
