Prosecutor in gay porn producer murder: Tapes prove guilt

(Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania) Tapes with a revealing conversation about the  murder of producer Bryan Kocis were played for the jury deciding the fate of Harlow Cuadra on Tuesday.

Kocis’ body was discovered in his home in 2006 by firefighters responding to a blaze in the rural home. More than 80 percent of his body was covered by third-degree burns; police said the fire had been set deliberately to destroy evidence.

Kocis was the owner of Cobra Video. Forensics experts were able to resurrect the hard drive of a computer found at the scene. The contents led investigators to two other gay adult video producers – Cuadra and his lover Joseph Kerekes.

Police said that the pair had killed Kocis after he refused to hand over the contract of porn star Sean Lockhart.

Kerekes pleaded guilty in December to the lesser charge of second-degree murder and was sentenced to life behind bars. Cuadra  pled not guilty.

Monday and Tuesday, another gay porn producer was on the stand, testifying that police sought his help in getting evidence on Cuadra and Kerekes.

Grant Roy told the court he knew Cuadra and Kerekes were interested in working with Lockhart, with whom he has a business interest.  Roy told the court that when heard about the murder he believed Cuadra and Kerekes must have been involved and agreed to wear a hidden microphone for investigators.

At the suggestion of police, he invited the two to California where he works to discuss working with Lockhart.

On a tape made at a cafe, Cuadra was heard on the tape talking about now being about to moving forward with producing videos featuring Lockhart saying that  Lockhart’s “chains [were] broken now” by Kocis’ death and that he wanted Roy to do the taping.

Roy brought up the investigation of the pair, which by that time had been reported in the press.

During the conversation Roy asked Kerekes, “Did he suffer? Or was it quick? Sean’s wondering.”

“I don’t know nothing about … ha, ha, ha,” Kerekes replied.

Roy also testified that Cuadra later told him not to worry “It was quick; he went quick.” But the comment was not recorded.

The device was working the following day when Cuadra and Kerkes met up with Roy and Lockhart on a beach and the conversation again turned to the murder.

A medical examiner has testified that Kocis died of massive blood loss after his head was nearly sliced off. He suffered between 28 and 29 post mortem stab wounds before his home was torched.

    • marchell, I have to ask, since all the men involved in this were gay, or at least bisexual, what has this got to do with gay rights?
