Do NOT put this on any ballot. Sorry, my families right to exist isn't up for public vote!

Take it to the SCOTUS. Let the battle begin anew there. As long as we don't let the religious zealots make it about their skewed religious dogma or the radical right make it about gay marriages somehow nullifying all existing hetero marriages then we have them beat.

Equality and American ideals will win in the end. Let's make it happen!

We have to be real careful here. Hurt Obama and the Razi of Rome will be sitting on the US Supreme court.

And Limbaugh - the perfect example of Christian Rebirth - Hitler re-incarnated will be the defacto leader of the country.

I realize there are a lot of pissed off people. who are victims of Catholicism - the longest lived, most slick tyranny in the world, and the Mormons, such asses tthat they forgot that they ended up in Utah to escape being murdered.

It is going to be a hard fight. But fight we must, and use the weapons at our disposal. Changing attitudes, gaining the support of more liberal church denominations, and lots btw of Catholics and some Mormons, who haven't been poisoned by their church.

And be professional about it, and be involved in every possible aspect to support those who are most likely to be on our side3.

And recognize that there are probably some anti-obamas here who are nothing but plants, trying to pisss off the gay community so we don't vote, and they get back in power.

What would you expect of a party that condoned the stealing of trillions of $$ to satisfy their prayers to their God named Greed.

The real opportunity if we are smart about it is to destroy the republican party totally. They have only a about a 25% approval rating. They are all but nazis, and they must be the target, if America is to survive and prosper, and be a beacon of liberty for all, however imperfect it has been.

We didn't knock over segregatiion in 10 years either, and we are still fighting the same religious poison mindset. We cant go back to the civil war, and tell Sherman not to burn Atlanta, but to burn every so. white baptist church which was the religious arm of slavery, then segregation, and are even worse then the catholic church.

And the ultimate prize, if the repubs can be destroyed is not just equality, legal marriage, etc.

It is the end of the republican party as a force in politics, the fitting legacy to George Satan Bush and his gang.

And having America become like Europe - where only about 15% attend church regularly, and many of those are widows looking for husbands.

And turn the satanistic churches into museums to show future generations how we needed to fight not just a war on religious terrorism abroad, but also here at home.

Ahhhnooold pledged on TV to uphold Prop H8, and he comes up with the stale, outdated and disproven idea that he thinks marriage is between a man and a woman. He can't even tell us what he thinks should be between a man and a man or between a woman and woman, UGH!

Such fine leadership CA has, he will not protest this travesty of justice. How about a new governor who isn't afraid to represent not just one segment of the population but equally both straight and gay alike.

Larry.. rights are NEVER a 'good time' for the supreme court. No one 'waits' for a 'good time' to force rights equally.

I'm from Pennsylvania and I have to say to all of you in California how sorry my partner and i are that prop H8 was upheld. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think rights would be stripped from any class once they were given we'll keep up the good fight and get the extreme right wing religious nuts exposed for the whackos they really are. On the case in the Federal court It makes me very nervous for all of us if this poceeds the Supreme court is not ready to hear this case and there are so many unanswered questions about these two lawyers and this new civil rights org.I dont think we should push this right now and keep it at a state by state level for now

DC: I should add, however, that it would be better for us to win our rights at the ballot box or through legislative action. In some states that is possible. I suspect that eventually California is going to repeal Proposition 8 at the ballot box. But in many states that would never happen. In some states there would not be a single vote in the legislature in favor of civil union, much less marriage equality. According to fivethirtyeight.com, it will 2024 before there is sufficient support in Mississippi to repeal their state constitutional prohibition of same-sex marriage. Shall we just wait until the old fogies die off before we have equal rights?

DC: I don't think moderates really resent Roe v. Wade and I don't think moderates resent the Supreme Court having declared sodomy laws unconstitional in the 13 states that refused to repeal them. The people who harp on Roe v. Wade are people who want to criminalize abortion. The people who would harp on a Supreme Court ruling permitting gay marriage or at least forcing gay marriages to be recognized by the federal government would be people who are opposed to our having equality. It's that simple. The controversy is not going to be inflamed by a favorable ruling, and it is not going to go away.
