Ok, I went and didnt hurt anyone, in fact the whole thing seemed very peaceful. Almost to point that it sort of felt like we got pelted with X...lol Estimates of the West Hollywood crowd ranged from 2000-5000. We got massive media coverage, the helicopters (about 7 of them), stayed in the air until the very end. You can see some video here: http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/index This is our local ABC channels main page, so they might move it by tomorrow..root around if they do, you'll find it. Also, talk about ecletic, every type of person was there...including my favs...the gay punks...(like myself)...playing a marching band at the very end...they even had (lolololol)..chicks with multi-colored hair playiing accordians....(sort of a punk polka!)very funny...and LOUD! The drummers and the horn section (all very punk and alternativly dressed!!), woke up everybody in the neighborhoods we passed through! It was glorious...and sobering...It was lost on no one exactly why, this bunch of queers, that would normally not mix, were there. I talked with a str8 goth chick who was terrfied that if they could to this to us, then who was next?

Peace to you all,

Be this the whetstone of your sword. Let grief
Convert to anger; blunt not the heart, enrage it.
      Macbeth

      But I wish I had something better to say than an old Shakespear quote;

Let's have "Sit-ins" in the court houses around the state(s) that issue marriage licenses...

like sitting at the lunch counters or in the front of the bus in the 60's

i'm ready, i will have some time free before going in to work and will even be willing to bring a sandwich for my lunch and sit with my signs outside the marriage license office!

See you all there tomorrow and ON and ON, till they get tired of seeing us! if need be we can do it in shifts!

Let me make myself perfectly clear, I advocate any and all means of civil disobedience up to and including acts of violence against those who brought Prop 8 to pass. The Mormon Church, their property, homes and temples are open season. Likewise with those who signed the petition to have Prop 8 on the ballot, those that gave money and those that voted for it. We have the legal and moral right to use any means necessary to resist this legislative terrorism.

Now for those of you who prefer using more peaceful means, instead of lecturing everyone about how we should kiss our enemies’ asses. Y’all should be getting to work on two fronts, one, there is a petition being circulated by Yes on Equality, California residents only, to get a ballot initiative on the ballot in that state to overturn Prop 8. Secondly, Prop 8 needs to be challenged in federal court. We have a strong precedent in Romer vs Evans(link below) which could eliminate Prop 8, but also virtually every anti-gay Amendment passed in the rest of the states. Those of you who object to violence, instead of lecturing, do something solution oriented and stay out of the way.

Also, while this a LONG SHOT, especially in the United States, where International Law is rarely if ever respected, there is a strong case that Prop 8 and Amendments like it violate the United Nations Charter of Rights, particularly Article 30.

Universal Declaration of Human Rights-Déclaration universelle des droits de l’homme

Article 1.
All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

Article 2.
Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.

Article 6.
Everyone has the right to recognition everywhere as a person before the law.

Article 7.
All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination.

Article 8.
Everyone has the right to an effective remedy by the competent national tribunals for acts violating the fundamental rights granted him by the constitution or by law.

Article 10.
Everyone is entitled in full equality to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in the determination of his rights and obligations and of any criminal charge against him.

Article 12.
No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.

Article 16.
(1) Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and to found a family. They are entitled to equal rights as to marriage, during marriage and at its dissolution.

(2) Marriage shall be entered into only with the free and full consent of the intending spouses.

(3) The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State.

Article 28.
Everyone is entitled to a social and international order in which the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration can be fully realized.

Article 30.
Nothing in this Declaration may be interpreted as implying for any State(ie California), group(voters, Christians, etc) or person any right to engage in any activity(Prop or to perform any act aimed at the destruction of any of the rights and freedoms set forth herein. (This Article explains why Prop 8 is clearly illegal, and it makes it clear that noone has the right to vote away the rights of another).

I suggest that, please go ahead put the sign "Human=Human" and "You are inequality & trampled over other human's rights" then chain bolt lock on the main door of church in middle of early Saturday nite & Sunday morning.
on any religion churches that support Prep. 8. So they can not celebrate first thing to do this coming Sunday service. This will inconvenience them and learn the lesson!!!!

In Switzerland, people are required to have civil marriages first, then they can have a church wedding after. Why are we not putting forth a ballot that changes the constitution to require us to do the same here? It keeps church and state firmly separated.

Violence is not the answer. We have the power to cripple the California economy by withholding our gay dollars, squeezing Arnold's nads until he's forced to put an end to all of this stupidity. The IRS just sent out Stimulus payments from Obama. These should be spent outside of the state of California or online, in states known to support gay marriage. Gay dollars have the clout to show how we can cripple the California ecomony and support other states who support gay marriage. That's what I'm going to do. Anyone else with me?

Although I am Canadian, I must take this moment to offer an observation in regards to some here who say violence is not the answer. I too abhor violence however permit to ask the following:

What would America be today had the Boston Tea Party not occur, or the revolution or even the civil war. Were these events not violent and were they not, in hindsight, essential to formulate a free society. As much as I dislike violence and harm to others, there does come a point, when all other avenues have failed, when a man must pick up the sword and lay down the pen. Finally, permit to offer a quote from the not so "good book":

"Woe unto you and verily hear me, let he who sows the wind understand that he shall reap the whirlwind"
