Seriously, you really think he is going to pick a queer secretary of the navy?

He said this to throw us off. Just like he picked Warren for the inauguration to throw off his Blago scandal with Emmanuel.

Change you can believe in? Yeah, a change to chicago politics.

TheRadicalRealist Said: Jonathan, STFU, seriously.
====

1. when you learn how to disagree without telling people who have differing opinions to STFU, maybe I'll take you seriously.

2. I said you were an idiot not a racist

3. If it were a white guy none of you would be bringing in the race issue

We are going to have to practice what we preach and be tolerant during the Obama administration. In order to repair the division in this country he is trying to bring everyone to the table...even people we may not like. Right after I read this i also read where he is considering a gay secretary of the Navy. We have to keep things in perspective and look at the big picture.

We will do far better with Obama being inclusive and successful then if he continues with the politics of previous presidencies.

During the Obama presidency, we gays will not have to worry about federal laws that will erode our rights. Obama's move to be inclusive will help him overcome partisan problems and hopefully make him a successful president. If he's successful, there could be a flourishing of democratic ideals for presidencies to come. We need this country to shift towards progressive ideals. We need Obama to be successful, so we should accept decisions like these that put out a STRONG message to conservatives that they will not be left out and will not have to be angry problem starters.

What the LGBT community is asking would be divisive. It's part of the, what I hope will be called, old politics that polarizes our country and breaks down civil discourse. We can disagree with someone and still not turn them away. We do far better when we tolerate then when we make enemies.

right now, i am infuriated, sickened and disgusted by this spectacle of an antigay hatemongering proponent of Prop 8 delivering any speech for Obama's innauguration whatever the rationale given for this choice that set a sour tone for the beginning of his office.

All I can say, is he better not continue this as divisive trend that pit American against American.

All I can say at this point with a heavy -hearted sigh so you thought you "had to throw some meat to the "wolves" (the ayatollah faction of religious and to hawkishly antigay conservativism) to pacify them, but they are going to be "hungry for more meat" and will not be satisfied until you've "lost your manhood" and are slavishly groveling before them like a pitiful child. Instead of saying we recognized you, we nodded to you to acknowledge your existence already as part of the diversity of the USA, but you are not the only ones in the USA, so now beat it and stop bothering me, I have a country to run!"

Let's see if he gets his "manhood" reattached and firmly back in place, or if we are going to bang a loud gong in his face to remind him that the "garden of human rights" needs to "tended and kept weeded". That in other words, he will have to pay attention to the nation's business.

Let's see what is on his plate, relations with Russia and Georgia, dealing with the Islamic world, Iraq and Afghanistan, Pakistan and India, Burma and Southeast Asia, China and Tibet, Somali piracy threatening the shipping of the world, Latin America and how do relate to Hugo Chavez who sits on huge reserves on Venezuelan oil (Citgo is Venezuelan oil) and who is a problem for his neighbors and who hates our guts, relations with Cuba, conflicts in Congo and in Darfur, sources of energy in USA and making sure we diversify energy sources and have enough energy for our own needs, keeping energy costs more affordable, human rights, encouraging Americans to a healthier lifestyle as we are becoming a nation of severely obese kids and adults, (I am overweight myself and need to do something about it, the retooling of our schools and our kids and young adults to be able to work jobs in today's changing world, that better help keep their bills paid and food on their tables, the ongoing crisis of our economy, our mortgage, financial institutions, put an end as soon as possible to these many multi-billion dollar bailouts and restock our treasury, making sure Americans have insurance that is adequate and that they can afford, homeland security and military readiness, keep a lid on taxes and find ways to cut waste in government spending (this is not just for the conservatives but what the country must be tough about now after all we shelled out in bailouts in 2008 alone) and much, much more.

Obama does not have time for the Rick Warrens, they will have their token representation on Day 1 at innauguration, if they push for more than that such as trying to get Obama to keep gays and other people stuck far in the back of national priorities, President Obama show some backbone and the answer is "Sorry, I have a country with many other people and many other more pressing situations demanding my immediate attention in just one day alone, and you've been already recognized and already had your day, Goodbye!"

I admire the position Obama has taken when building his cabinet. I realize he will have to work with the conservative side to be an efficient leader. All he has to do is clearly state that his administration is committed to giving LGBT folks equal marriage rights and he can have anyone he wants give the 3 minute opening speech.

Maybe it's still too early, but I'm starting to think the country just got played. Not that McCain would have been any better (which he wouldnt have been, far from it), but for a candidate who kept preaching "Change!", we seem to be seeing all the same names and all the same faces yet again. And now with Warren going to show off at the Inauguration... well, it's starting to look like Carter 2.0: someone who went to DC with lots of great intentions, got scared at what he suddenly realized he was dealing with, and encircled him with the usual DC hacks, all of whom took advantage of his naivité and messed up the country in the process.

I still find it amazing that, out of 350 million people in this country, these people were the very best we could come up with. Pretty sad and pathetic when our national election is compared to those in banana republics, as some of the media have suggested -- and yet, with each passing day, it becomes more and more true.

For those of you who are justifiably angry, there are things we can do other than just blog angrily at each other.

Let’s harness the anger, the energy and the justifiable rage and let’s fight for our rights. It’s a while away, but let’s all show up to Washington June 5th through 14th and March on DC for our rights.
