CT is safe. Why? because CT voters recently voted no to rewriting their constitution. The anti-gays wanted to include anti-gay language in the rewrite if the voters said yes to a rewrite. So, they lost out on that chance and will have wait for another 20 years for another chance. That is the law in CT. And if rewritten, the whole constitution has to be written and that costs a lot of money.

CT was my birth state.
That’s my main connection to that state.
Hopefully, more people will see places in Connecticut like Mystic Seaport and get married in CT. And help out its economy as marriage is currently unavailable in California but is available in 4 New England states including CT. I am doing a tour of the 4 New England marriage states on my way to and from Atlantic Canada later this year.

I hope so because I am very scared of gay marriage being on the ballot now!!!!!!!

She isn’t to be condemned as a republican. And that really gives us hope that some of the repubs will actually break with the party, and join the Blue Dog dems.

I’m basically a liberal – progressive, support the health care bill, abortion of the catholic church’s tax exemption for a starter, etc.

But if we had more people like Rendell, and the LA REpub who voted for the house health care bill, we might be able to turn the repubs into a national minority party, along with their so called christians who use religions as a cover for bigotry.

Jodi was not at all “pro gay” and it is NOT due to her that gay marriage became law in her state….please try to get your facts straight before proclaiming someone “pro gay”!

WOW…Since when was Jodi Rell pro-gay? She doesn’t throw a hissy fit like other Republicans about gay rights but that cannot be considered pro-gay. She is more the silent and avoid the issue type. But had same-sex marriage pass through the legislature and not the courts I doubt there would be ambiguity on her stance. Rell would have vetoed.

Rell had no choice but to sign the bill.

I will give her credit though for not allowing fights against the passage of gay marriage here in Connecticut.

It will be an interesting election year here in 2010. Dodd seeking re-election and now a new Governor.

I wonder if CT AG Richard Blumenthal will give it a go ?

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!! No way is Rell pro-gay — look it up! She was “forced” into signing civil unions a couple years back, but first sat on it for weeks, sending it to CT’s AG, telling the public: “If I sign this I want to be sure this will NOT and can NOT lead to gay marriage.” Well she signed it … only to be told by a court several months later that Civil Unions just don’t cut it (are you listening Washington State??). Good riddance to her!
