(George Town, Malaysia) Malaysian police have arrested 70 men including Americans in raids on four alleged bay venues in George Town on the west coast of peninsular Malaysia.
Police said the clubs were operating behind legitimate businesses and were uncovered during a routine vice blitz in a seedy part of town. The city is popular with foreign tourists.Vice officers said one of the clubs was operating in a traditional massage parlor; three others were “disguised” as fitness clubs.
Police said that in several of the early morning raids, they found men engaged in sex. In others they found “evidence sex had occurred.” They said that officers found gay pornography, condoms and sex toys in four of the locations.
Those arrested were booked and released on bail after being given court dates. They are charged with gross indecency and if convicted would be subject to floggings and up to 20 years in prison.
Those charged are between the ages of 20 and 50, police said.
Last year, police in the capital Kuala Lumpur charged 37 men with gross indecency after a raid on what was described as a gay sex club. They were sentenced to be lashed and then freed.
Malaysia’s anti-sodomy law dates back to British colonial times. The country’s Muslim majority has steadfastly refused to repeal the law.

Most of the world is not for gay people tailor-made.
I think I would just stick to places, towns, cities, states, countries where I know through reading, listening to people who’ve traveled there or from my own personal experience where I could go and feel reasonably sure I would not be thrown in jail or get flown back home with a fractured skull or arrive home wrapped up in a shroud or bag and “stuffed into a “box” so to speak.
Gay people need to aware of local custons, laws and attitudes before they fly to another country and need to remember that will be under the local state or provincial and federal rules. laws, regulations and ordinances of that country or those countries and that they can’t just waltz into someone else’s land and culture and casually expect to conduct or comport themselves the very same way as they can back in the USA.
Do the gay thing in the wrong place and you might not arrive back in the USA in one piece. Jamaica is not the right place for battybwoy or chi chi man to go. extremely dangerous country for gay people. Why would gay people would risk themselves by going to an Islamic country be it in Europe, Asia or Africa is beyond me. Carribean is very homophobic. Africa see homosexuality as “an imported Western social disease” in violation of its cultures and traditions. Only in South Africa (crime ridden in some areas) can gays get married in all of Africa.
Thailand is one of the very few Asian countries where being gay is no big deal.
In parts of even Europe best to keep being gay hidden.
In so much of Latin America being gay is not very well received.
Best read up very, very carefully about where you want to go and talk to as many people as you can whom you know been there or want to go that country and talk to locals from that country who live ine USA if possible to get a sense of how they view their country and what kind of conditions back home might have caused them to leave their native countries and if they view their countries as places they have a desire to return home to.
Hypocritical Malasia where it’s okay for heterosexuals to thrive on female prostitution and sex trafficking but shame on any Gay man for daring to have sexual encounters with other males. These Moslem countries are frauds.
Dear silly American men:
Stay the hell out of Malaysia.
See there? Such a simple solution.
So much for Islam being a “religion of peace”.
