Police stymied in hunt for motive in slaying of elderly gay couple

(Indianapolis, Indiana) Nearly two weeks after the bodies of Milton Lindgren, 70, and Eric Hendricks, 73, were found in their home, police say they still have few clues and no idea of a motive.

Investigators continue to decline to say how the elderly couple was killed or how long the bodies were in the house before being discovered.

A police spokesperson would say only that the men died by “violent means.”

Officers were sent to the home after friends notified police that the men had not been seen for some time.

Friends of the couple say they believe the slayings were a hate crime.

They say that the men had been previously targeted by vandals. Phone and cable lines cut twice in the past few months, the friends say. They also say that homophobic graffiti was found on their front door in the weeks prior to the killings.

But investigators say they have found no evidence the killings are linked to the vandalism. They also say, however, there is no evidence the motive was robbery. Nothing appears to have been taken.

Police say they are continuing to question neighbors and friends of the men. In particular they want to talk to one of those people who has not been found.  He is identified as Michael Brown, 56. Police say Brown is believed to be driving a silver Dodge Avenger with an Indiana license plate.

    • This was no doubt a trick that they brought home who probably was pissed because he didn’t get the money he wanted. People need to start investing into home security systems.

    • No Doubt a Trick?

Yeah, those tricks that cut cable lines and grafiti on the front door in past weeks.

Jon, you do this couple a dis-service with your wild assumptions.

    • Hatred is hatred and sadly in the U.S., it’s still prevalent. That the police laughably discount the vandalism as being pertanent speaks volumes. As for what Jon (the false one) said, he clearly has no concept and therefore should be dismissed out of hand.

    • Very little is being done to solve the crime really. I have seen it shown more on CBS Logo then the local news here in Indy. With the current political climate in the state, read Red, I seriously doubt that this crime will be solved unless the police accidently fall over the criminal that did it.
