Perez Hilton not backing down for using gay slur

(Los Angeles) Perez Hilton isn’t apologizing for using a gay slur.
The openly gay gossip blogger said in a statement Tuesday that he would continue to say things upsetting to gay and straight people alike. The comments came after the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation called for Hilton to apologize Monday for unleashing the word during an altercation at a nightclub with Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am.
“I wish none of it had happened,” said Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira. “I can’t take it back. I did what I thought was best at the moment to stand up for myself in a nonviolent yet still assertive way. Clearly, I am not homophobic. Also, I am not nor have I ever claimed to be a spokesperson for the gay community.”Hilton said he used the gay slur because he thought it would be the worst thing he could possibly say to will.i.am. after the musician told the blogger not to write about his band on his Web site. Police charged the band’s tour manager with assault for allegedly punching Hilton during the confrontation at a Toronto nightclub early Monday morning.
“For someone in our own community to use it to attack another person by saying that it is ‘the worst possible thing that thug would ever want to hear’ is incredibly dangerous,” said GLAAD media programs senior director Rashad Robinson. “It legitimizes use of a slur that is often linked to violence against our community.”
Earlier this year, Hilton incited a brouhaha when he asked then Miss California USA Carrie Prejean if every state should follow Vermont in legalizing same sex marriage. Her response that “marriage should be between a man and a woman” received more attention than the winner. Prejean, who was later dethroned, said she lost her crown because of the comment.

Hilton is a pointless sick queen, being older and sick of attention getting queens like Hilton; who is ashamed of his own real name has forgotten we need to do it better, use better langauge, and be better modile citizens, as our bothers and sisters of color showed us in the early 60’s. There are more important issues beside yourself, you are part of the problem not part of the answer, with your actions you embarrass us all. It is no wonder people do not want to give us the right to marry. You have gotten “if you can not say something nice keep you big ass mouth shut”.
I don’t support violence, but he should have gotten worse for all the trash he slings. He is the lowest of the gutter trash in our community.
I’m not sure why you still give this person coverage; he’s as obnoxious as Rush Limbaugh, although less talented. Giving him publicity makes him seem to represent the gay community, but he is not liked by anyone I know.
As much as we hate hearing about this waste of a life, as long as he’s gay and working the circuit 365gay.com will continue to report it, thanks to a little constitutional right called freedom of speech
WHY ON EARTH does anybody pay attention to that obnoxious loudmouth?
The reason why they are covering this story, is not to provide him with more attention. The story simply issues an example that it is not acceptable to use homophobic slurs whether or not you your self are a homosexual. Plain and simple!

you realize that “pretty boy” as applied in this case of Perez (Mario) is just a buzz word for a young to middle-aged guy who is still photogenic on the surface but who as a self-promoted public figure is also highly overrated and full of himself.

Many of the comments here sadden me. Although I am not a fan of Perez, I feel that the Black Eyed Peas behaved very unprofessionally in this situation. Did they forget about freedom of the press? Perez shouldn’tve said what he did, but I find it absolutely sickening that you people are saying things like “hit him again”.
A gay person calling someone else gay because they think it would be the worst thing to call him—-What an idiot! We work so hard to get acceptance and preach non-violent measures and he throws us back 10 years with his stupid actions.
Perez, take it like a man, you ran your mouth and finally got what you deserve. While I do not condone violence, I would have done the same thing if someone said something about one of my buddies! Sometimes a strategically put fist on someone’s eye is just the ticket. Now, let’s boycott Perez and turn our backs on him, and I know we can…The gay community is harder on itself than anyone else!
I agree pretty much with what everyone has said so far.
While we’re calling out idiocy, maybe we can stop this idiotic technique of demanding an apology. When Michael Richards trotted Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton in front of the cameras to apologize for his slur, did anyone with a brain not see that for what it was: a PR attempt at damage control? It’s *not* a sincere apology.
And then, if they refuse to apologize, they actually get brownie points for fighting against the PC police.
I have no problem with issuing a press release condemning the action. But this “I’m offended…I *demand* an apology” thing just *has* to GO, IMO.
Boycott HIM
Would someone please tell that moron Hilton to SHUT UP. He is not only a bad example of a gay person, but also a bad example of a HUMAN BEING. He doesn’t deserve a single minute of the 15 minutes of fame he has managed to wrangle from the idiots who follow his childish nonsense.
The best thing that could happen to Perez Hilton is that he gets deported from my country and we never have to hear from hi again. Perez, go back to California and don’t come back to Canada ever again, we can do without you !
Douche… Can someone please stop hitting the snooze button on his fifteen minutes?
