Slight amendment to my previous post - in this particular instance, you should reference the Full Faith & Credit Clause - the transferability of legal status across State/Federal lines/borders (eg. just as Elizabeth Taylor's legal Mexican weddings are recognized in the U.S., so too should perfectly legal same-sex marriages done in,say, Canada, be recognized in the U.S. Also, if you are legally married in Massachusetts (or D.C.) why on earth should you not be considered legally married in another State? If the U.S. Constitution were applied equally to gay citizens, you WOULD be.

Get busy and take an injustice to court.

What are the residency requirements (if any) to be married in D.C.? If there are none, as many NON-D.C.ers as possible should get married - and then return home and demand your legislators give you the rights that the Equal Protections Clause of the U.S. Constitution GUARANTEE should be applied EQUALLY to you as full citizens.

Wayne, I don't see why we can't do both. I think this is a good way to publicize our success. It would be nice to invite straight couples too.

Makes me wonder what the opposition thinks it is doing to help society. Why not take Wayne's advice and help straight couples stay married?

Why not put on their own event and try to have 500 straight marriages?

A little competition, light hearted, could be fun. I think we could all enjoy seeing this as a celebration instead of a stupid fight that we can't figure out why they are forcing us to have it.

Maybe we never told them: ban our marriages? We still aren't going to get straight-married. could it be they think we'll just give in? If so, i'd suggest they contemplate coming over to our side. At least then they'd give up on the choice argument!

Rather than working to set a record of the number of marriages at one time, we need to be working on strategies to help same-sex married couples prepare for and live out their marriage vows successfully.
