Obama won’t do anything unless WE put the issue on the front burner. We need to make noise. Kennedy was considered a freind of The African American Community but untill the Freedom ride, Bull Conner’s fire hoses and dogs, and the Mississippi activist murders, no progress was made toward equal rights. It is the noise that motivates politicians. Us Queers need to make more noise

The Obama should put his power where his mouth is. He can start with (and this is only a start):

They need to dismantle and get rid of DADT (Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell) and the DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act).

The need to pass and sign into law, in their original entirety, the EDNA (Employment Non-Discrimination Act),The Domestic Partner Benefits and Obligations Act, The Matthew Sheperd Act, and UAFA (Uniting American Families Act).

Jesus effing Christ–is that Denise person nuts?

Have you, Denise, and those like you, ever considered that what you consider to be the teachings of Jesus, may not, in fact, be anything that Jesus the man (who might actually have lived, as opposed to Jesus The Fairy Tale Character of the Christian Bible, who most certainly did not) ever said, thought about, wanted, considered? Have you bothered to take your head out of your bible and check out other information available? Such as information from scholars, not just rote-memorization regurgitators preaching from pulpits on Sundays?

Obviously not, because if you had, you would have known that a number of leading scholars believe that Jesus the Man–you know, the actual person, not the made-up one–wanted nothing more than to restore his family’s right to a royal, mortal, human throne–not one hovering up in the sky somewhere.

I am stunned anew on a daily basis at the closed-minded hypocrisy that rules so many people in this country. Freedom’s great with them–until it comes to something that they don’t approved of…well, at least not openly, anyway.

Get off your pulpit, woman, and get some real-life experience.

I agree with you, Ed Said. I voted for Obama, and I think he could become one of our greatest leaders, ever, but there is a time for talk, and a time for action, and when you’ve been in the White House several months, it’s time to take action. C’mon, President Obama, take action to grant the freedoms you say you so ardently support!

Denise504 and Mona are obviously card carrying members of the Christian Taliban. I’m willing to bet they have never read what Jesus is supposed to have said as quoted in the bible. Most Christian Taliban are totally ignorant of what Jesus is supposed to have said. They also are quite adapt at putting words into god’s (their god, the one created by man in the image of man)mouth. I wonder if they have approval to spout such crap. As they saying goes, you may look stupid but don’t open your mouth and remove all doubt – something the Christian Taliban are experts at doing.

What do you think gay rights would have gotten from the Republicans? Nothing. We have to keep pushing Obama. There’s a much greater chance for progress here. As for finding a cure for aids, I am very synical about the pharmaceutical companies. They’re making a fortune on aids drugs and are too greedy to support a cure.
