You see in Australian law same-sex couples are reconised as defacto which means they basically have all the same rights as a married hetero couple and in Australia GLBT people are covered by anti-discrimination laws which are strong and not weak like some USA city bylaws. Also gay adoption is not banned in Sydney its simply not reconised. In my opinion theres less discrimination in Australia than the USA.
