(Concord, NH) A conservative Republican radio host, blogger and self-described citizen journalist is apologizing for calling New Hampshire’s Democratic Party chairman derogatory gay names – comments his party and a leading gay activist are condemning.
Doug Lambert called gay Democratic Party Chair Raymond Buckley offensive names while a webcam was streaming to the Internet last weekend.Lambert apologized to Buckley on the blog GraniteGrok. But New Hampshire Freedom to Marry Coalition executive director Mo Baxley said Monday the Republican Party should muzzle Lambert and denounce his comments as hateful to gays.
Party spokesman Ryan Williams later condemned Lambert’s comments as “completely inappropriate, offensive and hurtful.”
New Hampshire in June became the sixth state to legalize gay marriage, reflecting its changing demographics from reliably Republican and conservative to more liberal. The law takes effect Jan. 1.

and THAT you idiot…is how the gay mafia works! LOL…do you need directions to the unemployment office?
not sure they give benefits for getting fired for inappropriate behavior though..LOL
Here’s an article that shows exactly what he said: http://www.towleroad.com/2009/11/gay-nh-democratic-party-chair-called-faggot-by-radio-host.html
This man’s ego and bigotry most certainly got the best of him.
The manly and proper thing to do would be to apologize to Raymond Buckley in person, and not indirectly on some website that Mr. Buckley night or might not be reading.
Indirectly apologizing is unmanly and cowardly and continues to be a sad commentary on Lambert’s lack of decency and lack of backbone.
Why apologize? He meant what he said. I think requiring apologies that are in essence lies is very immature of our culture, but it seems what we do nowadays.
He should be held out as some weird left over fringe element from the 20th century, not allowed to redeem himself by lying out an apology.
I’m just glad we call this out. I had never heard the much reported use of gay as a substitute for stupid (which I find quite ironic as so many hets seem really lacking in brain power)…until recently when on a local papers blog someone called someone else gay for getting a fact wrong. I called him out, and people agreed with me. We have to speak out and not let what describes us be hijacked. Its just like companies protecting their brands. I’m glad we are doing it.
I completely agree with Dave W.
Why in the HELL would you WANT an apology from someone who offers it insincerely in the first place?
I say, spit in his face and move on.
The facts” After his radio show “Meet the New Press” ended today, GraniteGrok.com co-founder Doug Lambert looked into a live web-streaming camera, mockingly wished state Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley a Happy Birthday and then called Buckley a “faggot” before basically wishing him dead.
…After co-host Skip Murphy said that he should probably shut off the feed, Lambert looked into the camera and said, “Speaking of gays, Happy Birthday Ray Buckley. Are you going to Holland or taking another trip with your buddies?”
He then dances in a way meant to mock a gay male and says:”Yeah you Faggot. [Pause.] That’s right I said it and I meant it. You are reprobate. How the people, the Democrats, I think of some of the gray haired ladies and older people from the old party would stand behind you is beyond me. You are a disgrace to yourself to humanity to mankind and to your party.
“Other than that Happy Birthday Ray and many more — not,” Lambert continued before the feed was quickly shut off.”
THE RESULT: “Nassua Broadcasting, the owner of WEMJ 1490am in Laconia, terminated its contract with Lambert’s Meet the New Press on Monday. “Although the comments by Mr. Lambert were not aired on our station, we find the comments by him to be completely out of line and unacceptable, and we will not allow Mr. Lambert the opportunity to continue to air his show on our radio station,” said Rob Fulmer, regional manager for Nassau.
On top of that, Ed Engler, the editor of the Laconia Daily Sun, announced his newspaper would no longer carry Lambert’s weekly column. Even more, Lambert is being forced to resign from county co-chairman position on Republican congressional candidate Frank Guinta’s campaign.
Lez Get Real reports that Ryan Williams, a spokesman for the Granite States GOP said, “Mr. Lambert’s comments were completely inappropriate, offensive and hurtful” and they “having nothing to do with the party whatsoever.”
….
But the Republicans in the Legislature are still trying to stop SSM in NH! Maybe they can all be fired too.
