I live in the US, but all the nonsense with marriage equality country persuaded my spouse and me to go to Canada in order to be legally married. One of the big reasons that we did so is that we won’t have to worry that the right to marry is unlikely to be rescinded in Canada.

I always ask What would Jesus Do? I already know, he would accept us all as we are for we are all equal to him. All he asks is we seek him. Whether we are Straight, gay, bi, trans, you get the idea.
if it’s a questions of the Bible thumpers believing we sin, then which sins are bigger theirs or ours, you can’t tell me they have never sinned, and Christ died on the CROSS for ALL OF OUR SINS.
I take offense to us being likened to beasteality, pedophila(which is 98% straight men), and to the right wing Chritian(supposed anyway) teaching their young children hate, for anything, that is not what Jesus would have wanted. At first they hated and enslaved and hung the African AMERICANS, now they are taking their hatred out on us because the African Americans have been found to be equal, and what worse is some african americans are siding with them, after having to fight so hard for their own freedom.
The day will come when we all will be judged and those who are doing the juding now are the ones who are going to suffer.

So what? Jews aren’t going to heaven, neither is any religious believer that is not Christian, yet they still get equal protection for their ‘lifestyle’ choice that is immoral to the Bible/God.

To It doesn’t matter-

I love that you quote the King James Version of the Bible as if it were inspired itself- it isn’t. It is a poor translation that most Christian Denominations will agree has hundreds to thousands of errors in the translation.

But, more to the point of biblical inspiration in general. I have asked this of all sorts of “Christians” including various Protestant Fundamentalists, Mormons, Catholics, etc, and have never gotten a reasonable response. I now ask it of you:

The “holy” bible is full of all sorts of evil deeds that were perpetrated by or in the name of Yahweh. To provide just one example, the bible is in support of one of the most horrible practices that humans have ever devised to dehumanize each other: slavery (read for example Exodus 21:2-11, 26, 27-28, Leviticus 25:44-46, 1 Corinthians 7:21-24, Colossians 3:22-4:1, 1 Timothy 6:1-2, Titus 2:9-10, and 1 Peter 2:18-21), and before you go off on the arguement that slavery in the bible is different than slavery practiced elsewhere in history, consider, “As for the male and female slaves whom you may have…you may keep them as a POSSESSION for your children after you, for them to INHERIT as PROPERTY” (Leviticus 25:44,46). It is very hard to believe that if a loving god wrote the bible he/she/it would have forgotten to completely and utterly repudiate such a despicable institution as slavery while worrying incessantly over who one goes to bed with at night. More likely, the bible simply reflects the opinions of the fallible men who wrote it thousands of years ago. So why should we believe the nonsense you cite as the “word of god”?

Here is the real answer to the question: we shouldn’t. Stop throwing around chapter and verse as if this silly old book is full of nothing but goodness. If you want to believe it, that’s fine, but do not try to make YOUR religion into LAWS that we all have to abide by because that is a violation of the separation of church and state.

“It doesn’t matter”, maybe you are trying to be kind, but it is words like yours – and misunderstandings of the Bible – that drive gay people away from the church. The passage you quoted doesn’t mention being gay. It talks about one specific gay act. Romans follows along with the book of Leviticus, which cites the same act (Leviticus 20:13 and 18:22). Most scholars believe it is male-male anal intercourse.

More importantly, the passage doesn’t call that act a sin, as you did, but refers to it as “uncleanness” (Greek akatharsia, verse 24). Both Levitical passages also call it an unclean act (Hebrew toevah). And Paul says in Romans 14:14, “I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean in itself, but to him for whom it is unclean, to him it is unclean.” This is different from sin, which is sin for all (Leviticus 4:27).

The passage contains a few mistranslations. For example, the word translated “lusts” (Romans 1:24) actually means “desires” or “affections” (Greek pathi). The word translated “vile” (Greek atimias, Romans 1:26) refers to acts that are dishonorable in the eyes of men, not of God – a characteristic of uncleanness (Romans 14:14). As the book of Acts makes clear, God has made clean what was unclean (Acts 10:9-35, especially verses 14 and 15).

The United States of America not only allows the exercise OF all religions, I can also exercise my freedom FROM all religions.

By the way, the United States of America is not a Christian Theocracy. We are a Representative Republic. Note the keyword, “Representative”. Where we elect members of Congress to represent ALL the citizens of this nation. Gay, Straight, Bisexual, Transgendered, Questioning, male, female, intersex, black, white, brown, etc.
